Onsen Hotel and Spa

Nice little place! I went in the quiet season, so it was very quiet, but that’s exactly what I was looking for.

My wife and I spent the day in Palm Springs and decided to stay overnight. We made a last minute reservation at Onsen Hotel and Spa. When we arrived we discovered a cat in the lobby where breakfast is served. I expressed my concern to the front desk about being allergic to cats. He checked us in our room and on the way I noticed several feral cats roaming the property. 10 minutes after checking in I went back to the front desk and let them know that due to my allergies to cats I would not be able to stay and kindly requested a refund. I was told he could not do anything about refunding my money but would leave a note with the manager who would be in the next day. It took over two weeks to finally speak to the General Manager and ultimately was told they could only offer me a 50% refund, which she described as "generous". For a place that bills itself as a health and wellness property, I find it ironic that they don't consider allergies to cats that roam the property to be an issue for some guests. If you are looking for a place where cats roam freely, including where your breakfast is served, this is the place for you. If you check in on a 90 degree plus day, like we did, I hope the ice maker is working. When we arrived we were told it wasn't working and it breaks regularly.

This place was basically after some below average motels on the way from Sacramento a father and son road-trip, like an oasis in the desert. Great Vibes, clean, comfortable with everything you need and more. Helpful folks recommenting good mexican food and hot pools where you can watch the sky in the beautiful desert at night. Lovely healthy breakfast, what a change for once on our trip. Close to Joshua Tree national Park.

A bit hard to find the entrance. But I would've loved to stay longer! Everything matched well: The price, the room, the food the hospitality. Too many smoking germans around the pool but where told to cut it out, rapidly!

Breakfast at 7:30 was a bit too late for us. It was very warm and we wanted to go hiking early.

Check In times are ridiculous from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Check in clerk was demotivated and a bit short with us. The room did not have any towels in the bathroom. We contacted reception (via email since no one is at the premise to assist) but did not get any response. The next day we wanted to have breakfast at 9:40 (breakfast is until 10:00). There was hardly anything available except toast and when we asked for eggs we received a comment from the same clerk that checked us in (Alex?) that he will be leaving soon and breakfast would stop at 10:00. The area where the hotel is located at is a bit shady and directly next to a cosntruction site. Overall a bad experience at Onsen especially regarding the service to the guest.

It was wonderful! Cleaned big bedroom, very good healthy breakfast, cleaned warm pool!
