Getting old building

Great option if you’re heading to Edmonton but don’t want to pay YEG prices. Property is 45 minutes away from the big city and just off highway 16.

Walls are fairly thin but I had great neighbours. Parking is a little tricky, not always possible to park outside the unit.

The room was clean and comfortable

The TV could use an update, so you can connect your phone, or at least you don't get channels from idaho that look like 20 years ago.

The room we ended up with was small but comfortable and clean and included a microwave and mini fridge. Owners were very kind and lent us some of their own dishes and cutlery so we could prepare some food. Location was superb for what we needed - easy walking distance to the agricultural grounds.

We had booked the family suite months in advance of our stay, specifically for the kitchenette and separate bedroom. However, when we arrived, we were told the people who had rented the room before us extended their stay and therefore, the room was not available. So instead, we were offered one of their regular rooms (much smaller, no kitchenette, no separate bedroom) and a very small discount. We didn't have much choice at that point so decided to stay. There was no AC in our room. There were vents in the ceiling blowing some cool air every now and then but nowhere near enough to cool the room. There was a thermostat but turning it down did nothing. We ended up sleeping with the windows open and keeping the curtains shut all day. The advertised hot tub in the room does not exist - it's simply a small bathtub in the bathroom.

The room was perfect for my one-night needs, had a value comparable to the price I paid, and the location was fabulously close to the stampede grounds, which was perfect since an event there was my entire reason for being in town. (Proximity to the train tracks didn’t bother me.)

I had to turn the fridge on myself, which I didn’t realize until after I went to the office to ask why it wasn’t working.
