Parkway Motel

Simple refurbished basic motel. Trying to support local small business but was quickly disillusioned.

We booked this thinking it was pet friendly. Apparently only certain rooms are. We were not made aware. We arrived at 10 pm after a 10 hour drive and left by 8:00 am to continue for another 12 hours of driving. We had our medium sized very clean and quiet dog with us. Left the room tidy ang clean after all we were only there to sleep. Everything seemed fine until several days later when I looked at my credit card statement to find that the owner had charged my credit card an additional $226 for apparently needing to shampoo the rug in a small very low end motel room. I have never had such a thing happen ever before, and thought it was fraud. Visa is pursuing this on our behalf as is booking.com as they were never authorized to do so. I was told that this has become a common place event where hotels and car rental companies try to tack on additional charges for made up reasons and try to get away with it. What a scam. I tried to speak with the owner and offered to pay any additional standard pet fee which typically ranges from $10/night (super 8) to $35 a night at a Fairmount. But she’s been dodging my calls. This place charged me $226!!!! What a scammer, maybe business is slow and this is how she’s trying to make extra money ??? Avoid at all cost ! So much for trying to support small local businesses.

Mattress is overused on one side, so you roll to one side

This is by far the best motel we’ve ever stayed in! Comfortable beds, its’s very clean and the modern cabin-like decor is fantastic. It’s such a nice change from dated motels. The owner was very accommodating with a late-night check-in after a long day of traveling. We appreciated the coffee, chocolate, candy and the ceramic mugs were a nice touch. It’s the little things in life that bring a smile to one’s heart.
