A very clean caravan

The kettle barely worked – it only turned on after multiple attempts. The shower had almost no water pressure, making it impossible to wash long hair. The heating system was outdated, and during strong winds it was simply cold, even with additional heaters provided. The photo of the playground in the listing is from a completely different location.

"Wouldn’t recommend"

Location is stunning

Works to be done to the caravan as it is dated. Most of the lights don’t work in caravan, so be sure to take a portable lamp! It takes ages to heat up, only 2 out of the 3 rooms had a very small fan heater that worked. For larger groups of 5 or more, facilities are limited!

"Travelling for work, this was a suitable base in a beautiful location."

7.0

The location was right on the edge of the RSPB's Hodbarrow Nature Reserve. It was also within walking distance of St. Luke's Church, Haverigg, which has now re-opened (I led their service of Holy Communion during the stay) after two years of closure. There's good catering from the Harbour Hotel, and a fish and chip shop which is also to be recommended.

When I arrived there was no local presence. The person on the phone sounded as though he was in a call centre, and he asked me to do something my (rather basic) phone won't do to provide proof of ID. He did eventually let me in, but emailing in advance for anything that's required would obviously be better - especially in a place where the wifi is hidden behind a paywall.

The location is in a good spot right next to the lake. Which in the summer i can imagine to be lovely to sit around. It's a quiet site.

The caravan is self is a bit dated. There is only a gas fire which doesn't give off alot of heat. So the carvan is freezing in the colder months. The cooker needs replacing and the pressure of the water isn't the best. There was a strong grease smell when we first walked in. I think it just needs a deeper clean. Mattresses could do with replacing aswell they arnt the best. You can feel the whole caravan shaking just by walking around it aswell. For the price it is worth the stay. It just needs a bit of a spruce up. Could also do with a light outside. It's very dark on a night time.
