San Marino Motor Lodge Absolute Beachfront

Great location with easy access to the beach.

The waterfront location is superb, with immediate walk-on access to the beautiful Coopers Beach. All units have a deck which is lovely for simply sitting and watching beach activity and listening to the ocean waves. It’s so close to Mangonui and it’s wonderful ‘World Famous’ Fish Shop (plus the excellent Thai restaurant) and was a convenient place to anchor while exploring the far north of NZ, such as Cape Reinga and the 90-mile beach. Also, the team are super friendly and welcoming.

Nothing serious. If you’re prepared for old fashioned, very dated/tired interior decor, stained soft furnishing covers and old kitchen & bathroom appliances, then it’s a hoot! We had everything we needed for a very enjoyable stay, but if you’re looking for luxury accommodation, this is not the place.

As the title says, right on the beach! Room was clean an comfy!

On the beach! Our favourite summer short stay break.

Being able to take a few steps and just being on a fabulous beach is priceless. Safe swimming just out from motel. They have lots of dishes you can use to make meals. It is like staying in a 1950s bach and the floor slopes down and it is quirky, but very clean. Plus they allow pets, so our dog enjoys the stays as much as we do.
