Goyokan

This small ryokan was the highlight of our trip! The proprietress was gracious and very helpful, along with all of the staff. While most of the staff do not speak much English, I could tell they went above and beyond to be accomadating to all thier guests. The rooms were stylish and comfy, with each one themed to a specific tale or animal. The onsen on property were fantastic with 2 indoor and 1 partially outdoors. We opt'ed for the wasabi picking experience and it was great! The meals for both dinner and breakfast were fantastic and another highlight! Each meal was different for our two night stay with both a western and more traditional take served for each of our dinners. It was all delicious! Shuzenji onsen was a beautiful town with welcoming people and plenty to see. The focus on wasabi was a bonus for us, as both myself and my wife love it! I recommend visiting to anyone wanting something off the beaten path, with a bit of history and charm! We left Goyokan relaxed and with plans to come back in the near future!

Nothing. Our stay was fantastic

Loved our room which looked out over the river. Bathhouses were clean and high quality - we especially liked the private one with open air and views. Really nice host and an excellent breakfast. We also enjoyed the town which was reasonably quiet and very pretty in cherry blossom season.
