Drake Bay River View

- quality of the accommodation and surroundings - fantastic attention to detail, with fresh flowers, and chocolates every day - super comfy bed, luxurious sheets and towels - exceptionally clean and the room was tidied with fresh towels each day - fantastic breakfast that was included; we also had a couple of evening meals made especially for us - friendliness of the staff, who go the extra mile to do anything to help

Everything was very clean and comfy! There’s an air conditioning, a fridge, a huge bath und also private little pools outside. The place ist beautiful! We‘ ve spotted lots of apes and birds, the jungle-sound was amazing! Leticia was in charge of making breakfast and it was awesome! She is totally nice! There are lot of things to do in Drake bay: Carol helped us booking 2 trips for us (1 to Corcovado and one snorkeling-trip). Both were amazing! Saw so many animals, unbelievable!

Everything was very fine!

We had a lovely time in Drake Bay River View. The place is stunning and the staff is amazing! Only downside is that the place is a bit far from town and the beach, but the staff was very helpful organising taxis for us back and forth.

The place is very special. Private place...located in natural wonderland of green, trees, flowers and private trail to Drake river. Can go for swim in your own river. The owner helped us and took care of us 24/7. The couple taking care of place on site were sweet and took care of our needs including breakfast at 5 am since we had tour of park at 6 am, laundry and more. Great breakfast, generous menu with many options!

Shower water flow was a bit weak

What a wonderful place. The accommodations were perfect, the breakfast delicious and the service top notch.

Nothing, it was perfect.

The lodge is located just about 10min from town, down a dirt road with no visible sign aside from a “private property” one that might make you wonder whether you are in the right place. But you actually are and it is indeed a wonderful place to stay. We were in one of the two cabins by the river and it was wonderful and very well equipped. You can also swim or float by the river, play volleyball or table tennis, just relax by the forest to the sound of the howling monkeys. One big shout out to Letizia because the way she keeps the rooms always squeaky clean and equipped with fresh towels and flowers it’s nothing short of incredible. And she also cooks great breakfasts, no matter how early you want them (5am on our first morning due to an early tour). Olman was also great!

Just one suggestion: one night the lodge had a power outage that started at around 8pm and was only fully fixed the next day. The hotel owner tried to keep us informed through whatsapp but with no power and hence no wifi, it was no big help at all. That’s when we realized the owner we had been writing with and assumed would be on site is actually in San Jose and unless Olman is present (which he not always is because he also runs Picolina Tours), there is no English speaking staff. This made things a little complicated. If such instances happen again, would be great if the guests were at least given flashlights - we drained the batteries of our phones making ready in the evening and next morning and had obviously no chance of recharghing…

What's not to like here. We stayed for 5 nights. The rooms are exceptional, the layout is beatiful, the location is super quiet, flora and fauna (we even saw a tapir one morning) are plenty. At first we thought we were a bit far from the sea / beach (so to speak: 4 km by car is not that far :), but this is more than compensated by the amazing river running through the property (we spend at least one relaxing hour in it every day). Service is exceptional (viva Laetitia!), as is breakfast (they offer a lot of different choices but we ended up having the same every day since it was so good). And now the best part. Olman "the greatest host ever" is very kind and attentive and can help you with everything: organising activities (which are great), advising on restaurants in town (plenty of good food to find there btw), arranging transport to town (which we didn't need as we had our own car), assisting you with problems (which we didn't need since we didn't have any, probably because he solves them before they occur). He can even arrange for "sur place" dining (if you don't feel like going into town) by bringing in take away orders. This to mention but a few...

We should have stayed longer...

It was a little paradise! Beautiful location and Olman, the host, was very helpfull and kind! The accommodation is located next to a river where you can swim, which is really refreshing!

Everything. If I could give it twelve out of ten I would. One of the most amazing places I have ever stayed in. I have to say the pictures don't even do it justice. The tents were amazing and so comfortable with the little plunge pool at the back as an extra gimmick. Was straight out a fairy tale. The natural swimming hole was our daily highlight after exploring Drake's bay. Olman the manager couldn't do enough for us. He organised all of our activities and made sure we were at the right place at the right time. He was there every morning at breakfast (which was delicious) to make sure we had everything we needed. Hope to come back one day and if you are thinking about staying there make sure you book an extra night as you will not want to leave.
