Wayang Retreat

The property is beautiful, very quiet, Balinese style, surrounded by peaceful nature, calming pool and very kind and accommodating staff. I enjoyed conversations with Junior about life, travel and spirituality. The location is close to lots of restaurant and shops, but you’re away from the busy streets.

The room had no natural light during the day, but it helped with sleep.

What an amazing 6x night stay we had at this beautiful retreat! Junior sits you down on arrival & explains everything you need to know. He is a wealth of knowledge & can assist with anything required as can the friendly staff. Our room was exceptional dotted with quirky art work & furniture. Great aircon, lovely comfy bed & netflix if you need a movie fix after a big day out. The open kitchen/dinning area is an added bonus & every morning one of the lovely staff would make us coffee & a delicious plate of fruit plus a little cake, which is complimentary. In fact anytime of day you can help yourself to tea or coffee. A beautiful clean pool, exquisite gardens and the sheer peacefulness provide a very relaxed vibe. Plenty of food places within walking distant. Mr Sista had great coffee & food for breakfast/lunch. 'Wei to go' had good Chinese takeaway if you didn't feel like venturing far & nice to eat it back at the retreat in the lovely outdoor garden setting. Ulekan restaurant was outstanding approx 300m up the road.! If you feel like a 30min drive head to Warung Sika delicious food & extremely cheap. (Only about 4 bucks with Grab.) Lovely on Berawa Beach to watch a glorious sunset. (Also $4 grab) Our flight wasn't until 11.30pm but we were allowed to use the facilities all day which was greatly appreciated. Thank you so very much to Junior, Kadek, Iluh, Rebecca, Agus & Firmus for making our holiday so unforgettable ♥️

Whats not to love!

The place is very relaxing, thank you Junior for the warm welcome and the precious advises. The villas are spacious and comfortable. We spent a very good time with my brother. I recommand 100% !

My girlfriend had the Bali belly they gave advice and a free fresh coconut. Whatever you need during your stay... the staff is ready to help you!

I can’t speak highly enough about Wayang Retreat. We spent 10 days here and enjoyed it very much. The gardens are beautiful, the pool is fantastic and the common kitchen and living area a great added bonus (it was formerly a large private home). Although there were other guests in other rooms, it always felt like we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Its location in Berawa, two minutes’ walk from the Canggu shortcut, makes Wayang Retreat very accessible. But it’s also extremely peaceful. You’d never know you were on the doorstep of everything. The whole team of staff were lovely. Always chatty, friendly and helpful.

We booked an upstairs room but if (when!) I return, I’ll choose a downstairs one - the balcony is narrow and sitting out on it felt a bit claustrophobic. I also wasn’t a huge fan of the bed being raised up and in the middle of the room. But it was spacious and comfortable, and the Wi-Fi was strong.

Property in a nice location just slightly away from the core but walking distance to a lot. Beautiful grounds. Old traditional cottages. AC worked great. Very big rooms and bathroom

Occasionally you’d smell a bit of a musky smell but that often went away.

Decoration and swimming pool. They were very kind and could make late check in and payment last day. Cozy rooms, they really take care of differenciation. Room full of books. Super comfortable beds!

Behind the TV furniture was a bit dirty. They can change the soap bottles of the shower. Everything is so nice that doesnt make sense they do not change that bottles...
