This is not a hotel and not really a place for a simple overnight stay. It’s a unique experience: spending the night in a tent, with all the necessary facilities nearby. The setting is cozy and atmospheric, the host is welcoming, and sleeping in the middle of a canyon is something truly special. Rather than feeling like traditional accommodation, it feels more like a remote villa hidden deep within a natural park. It has a charming, rustic, almost forgotten-world atmosphere that makes the stay memorable and interesting. A few cats and a couple of friendly dogs roaming around the property add even more character to the experience.

"Heavenly"

10.0

This place is heavenly. Not only is the location jaw droppingly beautiful but it immediately feels like home. The lady that runs the site is a great host and the dogs and cats are so friendly you never feel alone. It's a great base for hiking and Los Llanos is a pretty little town just down the road. And it's all so, so peaceful... there's no traffic noise, all you hear is the bees buzzing, the crickets chirping, the cockerel crowing and the odd squabble between the cats. There are a few concessions to be made; the toilets aren't the sort that flush and the shower has no roof (at least for those staying in tents) but everything is very clean and seeing the stars so bright as the bats flutter overhead while you take a shower is magical. If you're looking for an adventure or to get some peace and quiet, connect with nature or your inner 8 year old, this is the place. I absolutely love it and can't wait to get back for a longer stay.

That I can't live here permanently!

"Paradise in the Caldeira"

10.0

I loved everything - this place is truly special and I cannot rate it highly enough. It is in the middle of the mountains, an incredible place to go on hikes but also to relax, cook outside, shower outside, sleep outside, swim in the stunning natural pool - it is full of good energies and peacefulness. Allison made sure I was able to get a ride there and also back on the day I left and was really helpfull with everything. There are no words to describe how beautiful this place is, I would love to come back !

Nothing! If you don't have a car like me, just make sure you bring enough food for your stay!

"The most relaxed I’ve felt in a long time"

10.0

Beautiful location, relaxing environment and people. A lot warmer than I expected for a tent-bed, I asked to borrow a hot water bottle on the first night but I was warm enough to not bother refilling it the second night. There was space for my rucksack at the bottom of the bed and a box underneath as well

Two friendly hostesses, convenient location (for those planning treks in Taburiente National Park), great atmosphere, beautiful scenery, cheap price with kitchen. The hostesses did their best to help me find my missing things. So I would like to give Rivendell Hotel a 10-point review.

The male host gave a bad impression, which I pointed out to the owner of the hotel when I was staying. Of course I do understand that the Rivendell Hotel is not a luxury hotel, and I don't ask for a luxurious service. But as a host, he should have basic courtesy to his guests. The male host should learn from Rivendell's other two friendly hostesses.
