The lodge was like a ho.e from home. It had everything you could pissibly need for a comfortable stay. The host was very responsive and answered any questions I had. Arrival was easy with clear instructions on how to get there. We will definitely be going back. Thankyou Roger.

Location

The property. It was filthy. Unable to use showers as they were so bad. Toothpaste left in sinks from previous guests. Unable to use kettle as thick lime scale. Outside should be white it was green, needed a jetwash. Tvs and mirrors looked like they had been wiped with dirty floor cloth. Radiators full of dust and pain was rusty. The fan was thick with dust. Coffee table should be disguarded as it was rotten. Everywhere was thick with dust and grime.

The caravan was dirty on arrival, I had to clean which was very disappointing. It was so hot so I just quickly cleaned up before using the toilet and kitchen. The cupboards, fridge, sides, windows, floors and bathrooms were all dirty. We called Roger who apologised and said he hadn't inspected the caravan before our stay due to personal reasons. The cleaner hadn't cleaned properly and it looked like the caravan hadn't had a satisfactory clean for years. Dust thick on skirting boards, cobwebs, food on cupboards and bits on floors. The bathrooms were dirty on floors, sinks toilets and showers. I sent photos to the owner who said he would come and clean the caravan himself during our stay. Which wasn't what you wanted whilst on holiday but expected a clean caravan so let him rectify. We inspected once he had been and unfortunately it still wasn't to standard. I tried to contact the host after our holiday to ask for a partial refund but no response. My daughter is pregnant and my mother 74 yrs old, for the inconvenience caused Roger left 2 toffee boxes. Unfortunately we expected more than £2/3 worth of toffee. The caravan has 2 sofa chairs which were not comfortable to sit and relax on. One of the dining chairs was broken and the caravan had lots of mish matched accessories. If the caravan was kept to a satisfactory standard and clean standard I still would not stay again due to the old style furniture and clutter.

NOTHING This property is absolutely filthy and disgusting and is completely unfit to be let in its current condition. Dirt and grime were present throughout the property, including heavy ground-in dirt that has clearly accumulated over a long period of time due to a complete lack of proper cleaning and maintenance. The standard of cleanliness is far below what would reasonably be expected for any habitable rental property. The condition raises serious hygiene concerns and makes the property unsuitable for occupation until a full professional deep clean and remedial works have been carried out. It is also extremely concerning that many previous reviews make repeated reference to the poor cleanliness standards, clearly showing this is an ongoing and unresolved issue rather than an isolated incident. To make matters worse, the owner has failed to take any accountability for the condition of the property and has instead made false accusations against me, alleging that I stole a tennis ball and dog bowl. These accusations are completely untrue and appear to be an attempt to deflect attention away from the unacceptable state of the property itself.

EVERYTHING The condition of this property is not an isolated complaint. A review posted in January 2026 titled “Fancy a Dirty Weekend!” describes very similar issues regarding the absolutely disgusting state of cleanliness and the poor overall condition of the property. That reviewer was also requesting a full refund and, rather than addressing the concerns professionally, received what appeared to be a rude and dismissive response from the owner. I cannot emphasise enough just how appalling the condition of this property was. It was grubby on another level. The bed linen had a terrible odour and quite frankly needs replacing altogether. The fridge had clearly not been cleaned, there were finger marks and dirt everywhere, and there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke throughout the property despite expectations of a clean and habitable environment. In addition to the hygiene concerns, there were also safety concerns. The steps leading to the terrace were unstable, wobbly, and unsafe to use. The property falls far below any acceptable standard for holiday accommodation or rental use and should not be let in its current condition. The lounge furniture was also extremely uncomfortable and wholly inadequate to sit on for any length of time, something that has clearly been mentioned repeatedly in other reviews as well. This again demonstrates a long-standing pattern of issues that have not been addressed by the owner. No doubt the owner will attempt to deflect from the serious concerns raised by pointing out that we stayed at the property and used some of the facilities. The reality is that we left early because we simply could not tolerate another night in such filthy and unpleasant conditions. We avoided using the grim bathroom and shower facilities altogether and instead used the showers at the pool because they were significantly cleaner. The owner may also mention that a toy was left in the lounge and some food remained in the fridge.

This holiday home was amazing, beautiful & clean, everything was very comfortable and fantastic location definitely recommend.

Excellent location in a quiet caravan park. It was so relaxing having the caravan right next to the woods with the gorgeous birdsong to enjoy.

It was clean at a glance, but actually needed a good scrub all over, with fresh linen on the double bed.

Fantastic stay , great location, cannot wait to go back again very soon . Met all our expectations and a lot more . Thankyou for a lovely few days , Really had a great time at 28 violet Oakdene
