Ryokan Marue Honkan

Thank you so much to the staff who really looked out for me during my stay. I had an amazing stay. The Ryokan is so beautiful and very comfortable. The food was delicious. The location is beautiful.

Everyone at the inn was very nice and accommodating. I was given several recommendations on things to see both within the Hitoyoshi area and at my next destination as well as on places to eat in the neighborhood. When I ended up holed up in my room all day for one of the days due to some sudden work I needed to get done, the staff made sure I still got basic cleaning without being disturbed. The bathing area was very nice and there were a few different interesting baths to try out, which made for a fun bathing experience. There were also washing machines available for laundry, as well as coin-operated dryers, so I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay.

I didn't have any complaints, but this is a traditional Japanese inn, so if you're not used to shared bathing or sleeping on the floor, you may want to consider if it's right for you (personally, I find it to be lovely). The stairs are a bit steep, which could also be difficult if you're staying on the second floor.

Beautiful Ryokan with public baths and a lovely familiar atmosphere, the owners are super nice and helped me a lot. Also the room I stayed in actually had a private toilet and sink. Hitoyoshi is a really cute town full of history and folklore, I really had a great time there.

Hot bath too small and outside onsen only cold water.

Loved the small attentions in our room, the very sweet man and lady welcoming us, the awesome onsen!
