Yorozuya

Gorgeous, enormous room for 3, included a dining table area, TV/couch area, and massive raised tatami mat area. Lobby and free coffee/tea area is lovely and relaxing. Was surprised by the large gift shop they had with fantastic local treats as well! Exceptional breakfast & dinner - so much food and presented so nicely. The sushi we had as part of our dinner menu was divine! The hotel also accepts requests for additional items through booking.com, and we ordered a birthday cake which was served after dinner and was excellent and hassle-free. We also booked their private spa one evening which included a sauna, steam room, hot onsen, cold plunge, and heated outdoor seating. Every detail from the plush robes & traditional sauna hats, choosing your sauna oil, AND the awesome massage chair and shaved ice machine & free beers (!!) blew us away. Definitely worth it! It's walkable to the train station though you can also take their free shuttle, and very walkable to the Lawsons next to the station. TIP: get a street photo with their traditional Japanese umbrellas (in the entrance) wearing your yukatas for a great photo opp!

Toilet room was on the small side for larger people, but was still a nice Japanese toilet (sprayers, etc.)

A unique beautiful old ryokan with amazing onsen and incredible food. Walkable to the snow monkeys and Shibu Onsen Pick up service from Yudanaka station very helpful but could walk it in 7-8 mins

Rooms were very warm Option for smaller breakfast would have been welcomed

Truly Japanese, excellent hospitality

Well placed with an easy walk or transfer to and from the local station. We skied and wandered the streets. The Onsen is magical.
