"Whilst the Park cabins are easily recommended, the Park grounds and camping/caravan sites need some attention from t"

8.0

It is over 20 years since we last visited Bruny Island and whilst it looks pretty much the same, the main change we noticed is significant. In 2005, we came in a caravan, and stayed in an idyllic park on the edge of Adventure Bay at the start of the Fluted Cape Circuit Walk, with its unforgettable cliff top views. The Park has now gone and is the new home of Bruny Island Cruises, part of the Pennicott Wilderness Journeys company, owned by the impressive 2012 “Australian of the Year” philanthropist Robert Pennicott. Unfortunately this leaves you with limited choices for caravan and camping accommodation, basically the Captain Cook Holiday Park. The recent 2026 reviews of this park leave a lot to be desired, but apparently it changed ownership at the beginning of 2026, so changes and improvements may be forthcoming. As we are now more mature in age, we stayed in one of Park’s cabins this time. The cabin was relatively large, modern and very clean, with an integral kitchen, dining and lounge area, and reasonably sized bedroom and bathroom. The bed was large and comfortable, with his and her electric blankets. The shower was large and modern, plenty of hot water, nice towels and ceiling heaters. Whilst the integral living area was compact, it was very functional and well laid out. Modern kitchen with cooktop and convection microwave, kettle, toaster and coffee maker. Adequate supplies of cutlery, crockery, glassware and cooking utensils. The 2-seater lounge was reasonably comfortable and the free-to-air TV reception was remarkably good. Small table with a couple of chairs and a small external patio with a BBQ and seating (weather and temperature permitting.) We had the cabin furthest away from the Reception, so the WiFi signal was virtually non-existent, so something for the new owners to improve. So in summary, the cabin was very acceptable and we have no hesitation in recommending them. The Park grounds are extensive with a 200M+ road frontage.

We stayed in a cabin so are unable to comment on the camp kitchen and “public” bathroom facilities. The external grounds need upgrading with better surfaces on the access road around the Park. From observation of the camping and caravan sites, again upgrade to the ground surfaces of the sites is required to make them more Tasmanian weather-proof and some judicious planting of native shrubs to improve their aesthetic appeal. None of these comments have much relevance to the Park cabins which were fine and we have no hesitation in recommending them.

"Would never stay on a camp site ever again."

1.0

Location, but park seemed run down, with tatty static caravans.

The cabin was cold, no extra blankets, although we used the reverse cycle AC but couldn’t heat up the bedrooms, only had electric blanket on one bed, The camp was . noisy and no internet connection available. I had to sweep the floors as gritty.. Multiple pot holes in access road. I noted the property has been sold, so probably not wanting to spend money. It certainly wasn’t worth $232

"Great location clean and comfortable."

9.0

Great location just across the road from the beach. Lovely spacious bathroom and a well equipped kitchenette. It was clean and comfortable.

Not the end of the world but there was No WIFI in the cabin you had to go 250 metres to reception and phone coverage was very poor. I don’t understand why, when you pay over $200 a night you have to take your rubbish out at the end of your stay (2 nights) when there are no bins nearby.
