If you are looking for traditional Japanese style, this place is a perfect fit: the amazing food, impeccable service, architectural detail and landscaping of the premises make for an experience you will never forget. In case you do not have a car, you can reach the place from Nagasaki by direct bus or from Kumamoto by ferry and bus via Shimabara port.

Service, great food, atmosphere, private outdoor onsen

Memorable stay in an exquisite property. Dinner and breakfast were of a very high standard served in the traditional way at home by a personal server. We were lucky to experience snowfall while there making the experience at the onsen even more magical.

Nothing

This is an outstanding unique property if you like hot thermal spas. While I am not a fan of public bathing I found some hours when no one was there and I snuck in. What a luxury!!!! For next year I am getting suite with the private hot thermal spa so I don’t have to worry about the privacy. That having been said this place is six stars the service the food the Japanese ambiance and the entire experience is complete. I am an international traveler and I go to high end places only. This place was an amazing surprise in the middle of Unzen. I highly highly recommend it

I liked everything there was not one place I didn’t like

This hotel has just 14 massive and expansive rooms - frankly more like an apartment on two levels. The setting is peaceful and the staff just ever presently helpful without being intrusive. The Assistant General Manager, Amila, helped enormously with advice and translation as most of the staff speak only Japanese. The public spa was in fact restricted to hotel guests so not really very public. Exceptionally well set up. Dinner in room was great and the Japanese breakfast was super comprehensive - served in my downstairs dining area by my room attendant.

Truly nothing. It's a little out of town but walkable.
