Shokinkan

足下の暗い18時のチェックインとなり、連絡をして駐車場までマイクロバスで迎えにきてもらいました。天台宗の1400年の歴史ある清水寺の参道にある宿坊だけに、入館するまでも夜の境内を潜り抜けて行くなど、初めての経験でした。平日の宿泊ということもあり、二世帯の宿泊でした。食事も別室で大きな個室でゆったりと気兼ねなく80歳の両親と繊細な精進料理をいただきました。アルコール持ち込みオッケーとのことでしたが、島根の銘酒の月山の燗酒をいただきました。お部屋に冷蔵庫はないのですが、お願いして冷蔵してもらい、電話で依頼すれば、グラスもセットでお部屋まで持ってきてくれるなど至れり尽せりのサービス。お風呂も一階にあり、男女別でした。男湯は、3つのシャワーが備えられており、ゆっくりと移動の疲れを癒すことができました。翌朝の朝食も豪華で食べきれないほどのボリューム。食事後、お部屋までコーヒーを届けてくれるなどきめ細やかな心遣いに感謝しました。また、来たいと思います。

The food was exceptional - very fresh, local, beautifully prepared and presented, a new menu every day. The location is superb, particularly with the autumn foliage. This is a classic ryokan in a temple complex in the hills. Surrounded by vegetation. Just very beautiful. And the staff were so friendly and helpful.

You need to be aware of transport options - it is a little off the beaten track. They will help with a car shuttle. There was a bus twice a day when I was there, although I believe this varies.

夜の食事が、精進料理だったのですが、とても手間暇かけて作られているのが伺え、とても美味しかったです。宿の方もとても人柄が伺えるお優しい雰囲気でした。 あと、行った時直ぐにお抹茶を入れて下さり良かったでした。ホッコリしました。

宿に行くまでの道が途中からわかりにくいのと御迎えに来て下さるのならその事も事前に知っていれば良かったのではないかと思われました。

It was so lovely! We had no idea that this ryokan was in the woods next to a temple. When we said what time our train would arrive, and they said they would pick us up from the station, we thought this was beyond the call of duty. What hospitality! Once we got to the ryokan, we understood that it would have been difficult (nearly impossible) for us to find this place on our own. We had reserved dinner, but soon realized that we needed to reserve breakfast as well since there were no places to eat close by. We went to Yasugi to visit the Adachi Garden and Museum, and the staff actually drove us to the museum. Amazing hospitality!
