"Very nice facility, would recommend it if you will be in the area."

9.0

The staff were very friendly, trying to over come the language barrier. The location was remote, not possible to drive there directly, must be bused to the lodge from the parking lot. The staff waited for us even thou we were 1 hour late. The remote location is something we liked, it's right next to a historical temple. It was great that we could enjoy a very private walk in the temple before people start showing up in the morning. The food was very good, the dinner set was vegetarian, which I'm not, but I still enjoyed very much.

The remote location may make it difficult for some travelers from overseas. We didn't know you need to be bused to the lodge, maybe I missed it. The tatami futon was very firm, I wonder if you could get extra bedding if you requested it, we didn't ask.

"Absolutely amazing experience!"

10.0

This was a once-in-a-Lifetime experience! I could not rate them any higher if I tried. The host picked me up from the small railway station. At no charge. He helped me carry my heavy suitcase. Don’t bring one there if you can help it. He took me to this most beautiful location right next to a Buddhist-monastery. In the middle of the woods, going through small, adventurous roads. I was greeted with a matcha 🍵 and a sweet. A can of tea was given to me. My room had a big window to the woods. I went to view the surroundings and I was honestly stunned. His wife asked me if I wanted a bath and at what time I wished to eat. The food served in a separate private room by the family ( grandma and wife) was out of this world. So much love put into that. So much effort. And it never ended, the arrival of even more little pots and pans. I then slept in the perfectly clean little bed on the floor. Rainy night, so cozy. Breakfast was served and just as perfect as the evening before. The host took me back to the train. I left my bag at the station to see the Adachi- museum of art. All in all, if you are after the real Japanese experience- go here! I took the train here for 6 hours, and I would always do this again. I just wish they put their prices up. They are so much worth this- and more.

"A true hidden gem"

10.0

The owners go above and beyond to make your stay the most comfortable. Would travel here for the food alone, what a feast! (tip: do a very light lunch prior). These hard working people and their outstanding building and surroundings really need more international visits. So, if you’re in the market for a Adachi museum visit. Please consider this ryokan as your stay. I would recommend a 2 night stay as you can explore the temple grounds and unwind. In other words; It’s been absolutely perfect. どうもありがとう。

"Great cultural experience"

9.0

Very traditional ryokan with all the features to be expected from one. The hosts are welcoming and helped with transfers, which was much much appreciated, particularly given the location (10-15 drive from the JR Yasugi. Meals were abundant and fantastic quality.

"A throw back in time to another era."

7.0

Wonderful location and amazing unique food, both dinner and breakfast. Very kind people and even gave us a trip back to the train station. One night is enough if you’re coming to see Adachi. Book your return tickets on the train to Okayama as they sell out

Cleanliness was really off and sadly disappointing in counterpoint to the finer attributes of the stay. Perhaps it could be called authenticity?

"Privileged stay"

9.0

It felt privileged to stay at this temple lodging. Being located amidst the the temple buildings it was very atmospheric and serene. The staff were super friendly (even with limited English we still communicated well). They helped me make a last minute zen meditation session booking for which I was very grateful. Food was delicious. Shuttle service from the train station was necessary without own transport. They also offered a shuttle to a local famous art museum and garden.

Nothing. But more details available in English would have been useful - I am sure this gem will not stay off the radar for non-Japanese visitors for long.

"Delicious food and a traditional Japanese inn"

10.0

You can eat the most delicious food in the world. Dinner is shojin ryori (Buddhist cuisine). The innkeeper, a woman innkeeper and the senior woman innkeeper are all very kind. The building and furniture are also very rustic and beautiful, allowing you to experience the atmosphere of a Japanese building from the good old days.

There's nothing that wasn't good
