Ryokan Mikasaya

Basic Ryokan with three private onsens situated in a lovely neighborhood. The owner was extremely welcoming.

Great traditional ryokan with amazing onsens. Host was very friendly and helpful. Quiet area and no noise at night.

The host/owner was the most friendly & helpful person you could meet. He communicates well in English, both via email & in person. As soon as I arrived the Ryokan was explained to me & I was shown around. Then he took me for a short guided tour of the village & saw me off at the bus station making sure I got the right bus. After dinner we had a smoke & drunk some sake together discussing many topics. The outdoor onsen was my preference & I enjoyed it immensely. A smoking area is provided near the front entrance. There is a self serve guest kitchen including a fridge & washing machine. Google maps struggles in the village with many location errors. However after a short walk the first time it's easy to find your way around. There are nearby restaurants & 7/11. A slightly further walk leads you to some of the Hells Of Beppu overpriced overcrowded tourist traps. Walking around the village at night is safe & a must do to really capture the steam venting from all the drains underground.

Can be a little hard to find when you first arrive. I knew ahead of time it's a traditional Japanese room with a futon on the tatami floor. I found the bed to be a little too firm for my liking. I regret that I couldn't stay longer.

Die Unterkunft liegt in der Altstadt und war mit dem Auto gut zu erreichen. Genügend Parkplätze vorhanden. Die Onsen (3) im Haus waren sehr gut. Der Besitzer war immer hilfsbereit und freundlich. Insgesamt ein sehr schöner Aufenthalt

Понравилось все, хоть и были всего на одну ночь. Район, в котором расположен отель, красивый и атмосферный, если пройти 5-7 минут, выходишь на большой магазин, где есть все. Нас встретили (мы немного заблудились, хозяин, как я понимаю, догнал нас на улице). Все показал, объяснил, помог заказать такси на утро, за это ему очень большая благодарность. Сам отель - атмосферный, тихий, традиционный дом. Все три ванны были свободны, мы были в той, что на свежем воздухе, это был лучший вечер за всю поездку по разным городам и отелям, настоящий отдых.
