"A cool well designed hotel"

Masumoto Jujo is actually a 20 minute drive outside of Masumoto in Osama Onsen but easy to get to by taxi from Masumoto station. It is a really thoughtfully well designed complex of repurposed buildings, including a previous geisha’s practice building and a public onsen. It is really cool! The rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful. A complimentary shuttle bus for example took us to Kamikochi valley. It is half board and the food is a modern twist, using local seasonal ingredients, on a traditional kaiseki dining. The “bookstore” is definitely worth a look and the Alps bakery delicious products a try. There are lots of nice touches such as complementary sweets and ice creams, traditional slippers and jukatas. There are also private onsen in all the rooms.

The drink prices are quite high but overall the quality of the room and food was excellent
