Marumo Ryokan

We enjoyed staying in this authentic, traditional Ryokan. Our hosts were so friendly and polite, and the evening meal we ordered was delicious. It’s a quirky place with the owners having a huge collection of animae models!

We were happy there- but it’s not for everyone. Steep stairs to the shared bathroom and some travellers might find the facilities rather basic. We thought it was great!

隅々まで綺麗にしてあって快適でした。 料理はゴマ豆腐が特に美味しかったです。

出来れば朝風呂が入りたかった。

食事は田出きれないほどの量があり、味もまあまあだった。

部屋の洗面所、トイレがなく、不便。　風呂も小さく、落ち着いては行った気がしなかった。

Incredible food. Friendly, helpful hosts. Ideally located by Lake Biwa. Family vibe with exceptional hospitality. I got “100” on my Garmin for my sleep score- if that doesn’t paint a picture idk what does 🤣🙏🥰

料理がとても美味しく、マンガが多くて飽きることなく楽しい時間を過ごせました。

施設的には古さを感じましたが、値段を考えたら、お得感はとてもありました。

The ryokan has everything you need and is very comfortable. It really felt like being at home. I stayed on a half-board plan and the meals were traditional and delicious, with a generosity in both the food and even the sake pour (which I ordered twice). I also arrived at a time when I had the onsen to myself, which was a lovely touch after a long day of cycling. As I had left my USB adapter in luggage storage elsewhere, the staff kindly loaned me one of theirs to charge my phone, which was a lifesaver while on the road. I accidentally took the room key with me after checking out, and the owner kindly came looking for me along the cycling path to retrieve it. I felt very apologetic, but really appreciated the effort and care.

Nothing to dislike. It was a comfortable, quiet and restful stay.

It was a fun, traditional ryokan experience. The hosts were lovely and very attentive.

Very unique and impressive with collection of figurines. Onsen was wonderful.
