This place was incredible and a highlight of our trip to Japan! This historic home is beautifully updated to be an upscale yet traditional stay. The cedar tub looking out into the courtyard maple tree was so relaxing. We were grateful for the opportunity to do our laundry. The host was so gracious and let us drop off our bags early, provided a lovely breakfast with homemade jam and had thought of everything for a perfect stay! Being on the island overnight and seeing the torii gate and temple at night and without crowds was very worthwhile and a memory our family will treasure for years. I regret not staying 2 nights to fully enjoy this lovely house at a relaxed pace.

The only thing I might suggest is to find a way to do check-in with a code. I loved having a tour of the home but needing to check booking messages to communicate our timing with the host was a little stressful plus I felt bad because things kept taking longer for us to get to the house than I anticipated so I felt like I was keeping the host waiting on me.

Absolutely beautiful property. Sauna was amazing.

Beautiful old townhouse on a quiet street but close to the ferry terminal as well as all the shopping and tourist sites of Miyajima. Lovely but unobtrusive hospitality with tea, coffee and breakfast toast with local honey provided. The rooms were all well supplied with heaters or air conditioning and we were toasty warm despite the freezing cold winter weather, although the walk past the open-roof courtyard from bedroom to toilet was a little chilly! The cedar bathtub was a highlight.

C'est une véritable maison japonaise, ample et confortable, très charmante. Nous y sommes allés en décembre, donc il faisait un peu froid dehors, mais l'équipement est tout à fait adapté aux conditions. L'hébergement est très proche du port, sans pour autant en être dérangé. L'accueil a été très chaleureux.

It is a great traditional Japanese house in a convenient location.

The only thing that was a bit inconvenient is having to cross to the other half of the house on the outside to go to the bathroom which was a bit cold.

We loved everything about the property. Our stay was everything we hoped for and more. The house was spotless, beautiful, and full of character. The location was perfect… peaceful and tucked away, but still only a short walk to the island’s main sights, shops, and ferries. It made exploring Miyajima incredibly easy. Communication with the host was clear, warm, and helpful throughout our stay. A map of the island with restaurants pinpointed including their business hours was provided to us at check in which was very thoughtful. We loved the quiet atmosphere, the beautiful interior, and the sense of calm the property offered. The beds were VERY comfortable! Plates, cups, cutlery, chopsticks, teapot plus tea and yummy coffee were all available! We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Miyajima.

I can’t say that there is anything we disliked about the property. We only wish we could have stayed longer!
