"I would stay there again!"

10.0

A lovely family run ryokan! We were welcomed warmly. The accommodation has everything you would expect from a traditioanl Japanese ryokan. There's no private toilet (very common for tranditional ryokan) but the shared one was extemely clean and comfortable, has all the space and facilities you need. The public bath is small but yet very comfotable with everything you need. The meals were so delicious! The rooms were nice and warm! The futons were soft and comfortable. I can tell that the owners were genuinely happy that we chose their ryokan, I would love to go back and stay there again!

"Schönes Ryokan in historischem Haus"

10.0

Sehr schönes Ryokan in einem alten Haus mit Strohdach. Innen bereits in teilen sehr schön saniert. Die Besitzer sind sehr nett. Auf Anfrage vor der Anreise, war ein veganes Menü möglich. Vielen Dank dafür. Es war sehr lecker. Das Zimmer groß mit schöner Aussicht.

"Old charm in Togakushi"

9.0

We loved our stay at Yokokura ryokan - the 150 year old building is beautifully crafted and it felt like we'd been transported to another time in old-world Japan. Our hosts were great and we were treated to a true and wonderful japanese hospitality, with excellent Japanese breakfasts and kaiseki style dinners that were top notch. Our beautiful tatami room was large and comfortable, and had a heated (kotatsu) table to cozy up our legs under when the winter wind outside howled outside, making the building a little drafty. We came to ski and they had a warmed room to store our gear, great baths to soak in after a ski day, and there are lifts to the hill less than a ten minute walk from the ryokan. Plus there are pathways among ancient cedars connecting several beautiful shrines, and one of Japan's best places to have soba just down the road. I would definitely stay here again.

Because it is a 150 year old traditional building, it is a bit chilly in winter, but the hospitality, charm, beauty and experience of staying in such a wonderful place more than makes up for it.
