Close to the Gondola and skiing. The staff were very friendly and accommodating for all our dietary requirements and needs throughout the stay.

Common areas a little tired

The value for money was the number one benefit of staying here, for half the price of near by accomodations we had an amazing experince. Amazing food for breakfast and dinner - all traditional Japanese but very tasty, central location to access all the different ski areas easily, very friendly and attentive staff, clean and comfortable onsen area. Felt like a home away from home experience - we would definitely stay here again if returning to Shiga Kogen.

The pillows aren't traditional, even in Western bed arrangements - this made for some uncomfortable sleeps, but very minor issue.

A classic Japanese-style hotel with a spacious room.. While it may feel a bit dated by Western standards, it truly met and even exceeded our expectations. Adding the half board was such a treat — each day we enjoyed different traditional Japanese dishes for both breakfast and dinner. The onsen was clean, well maintained, and a wonderful bonus. It’s close to a gondola, though it does take a bit of orientation and time to reach the larger areas of the Shiga Kogen ski resort. We would definitely stay here again.

Location is superb, in the middle of Central Shiga Kogen- with resort spreading either way! Bus stop just up the hill and gondola just down the hill- at the end of the day there is a short walk up and along a road for 20m. We booked the Western room and were not disappointed. The view out of the corner room was truly something, over the mountain, out towards (Hakuba?) and the setting sun! The dinner and breakfast included in the half board rate was a traditional ryoken multi-course kaiseki meal which we found amazing, every day. The natural onsen was a real treat after (or before) a day of skiing and I rarely shared it. Staff were so friendly and helpful. They received packages for me and provided short trips to bus stop when we left. Can't wait to come back next year.

The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The twin room we had was very large for a Japanese hotel and the onsen offered welcome relief at the end of each day skiing. The hotel is also ski in ski out and right next to the gondola station. Lastly the food was excellent.
