Dar Essoaoude - Fes Nejjarine

Very nice staff, it felt like we have known Fatima from before.

We didn't like the Medina. Nothing close to other medina's where we staid before in Marocco

Beautifully renovated house, well located to explore the ancient medina. We stayed in the family room which was very comfortable. Fatima was very helpful, arranging a guide (the fact that he was disappointing was not her fault), recommending routes to traverse and explore the medina most effectively and arranging a delicious vegetarian meal for us. Breakfast, served on the delightful roof terrace, was plentiful, fresh and delicious. Overall, we would highly recommend reserving a room at Dar Essoaoude.

We arrived by car: Fatima was very helpful in explaining where to park and how much to pay and in sending a screenshot of a Google Map for how to reach the Dar. However, it was extremely difficult to follow a non-interactive map and we got hopelessly lost: Google Maps is not your friend in the depths of a medieval medina! If you arrive by car we would recommend asking for someone to meet you at the carpark to bring you into Dar Essoaoude. The 10-15 minute loudspeaker sermon from the nearby mosque at around 04:30 each morning ruined our sleep both nights. Apparently, this is particular to Fes and if so I imagine it's hard to avoid wherever you stay, but you do need to bring earplugs with you if you want to avoid a broken night's sleep!

This place is a jewel hiden in the Medina! The triple room is spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was fantastic and Fatima was very accomodating to my father's food restrictions. We asked to arrange a pick up from the airport that took us close to the Dar where we were guided to the Dar door by a very kind lady (sorry, I don't remember her name, but she was very helpful during all our stay). We were received by Fatima with a delicious mint tea where we talked about what we want to do in Fez and how she could help us with planning and guides. We felt very welcome and at home. My dad arrived a bit ill and Fatima was great in helping me taking care of him, making him a special get well tea, like a mother. We had to check out quite early and Fatima arrange a take away breakfast for us. I couldn't be more thankful with Fatima's care and kindness. I cannot image staying in any other place when I come back to Fez.

Despite the scary entrance, the location is very convenient and we never felt unsafe. It's near place R'Cif where you can take any kind of transportation or start your visit to the medina once you learn how to move around. The highlight is certainly the very professional owner, Fatima, who is always available to answer any questions and find whatever you need. She found us a great guide to the medina on the first day who spoke our language perfectly, was very knowledgeable and most of all did not take us to a single shop.

We arrived when it was already dark and the entrance was quite scary. The narrowest street I've ever seen (as in our luggage barely fit sideways) and then a tiny door to another world. Once we saw it during the day it was fine though. The room was a bit old, especially the bathroom, and cleanliness could have been better. We booked dinner twice which was very abundant but weirdly enough we didn't get any beverage options.

Charming, cosy riad perfect for romance or family vacation. Clean, perfectly climatisé and very professionally run by Fatima who creates magic and manage every detail with love and good taste. Superb petit dejeuner!

Everything was very good, Fatima and Amira were incredibly nice with us, specially with my son. The breakfast was amazing. I highly recommend this place.

We were hosted in this lovely Dar by Fatima and Amina, who were very kind and took great care of us. Breakfast on the terrace was delicious and the view was beautiful. The house is well kept, our room was comfortable and had all the amenities. We warmly recommend stating here!
