Riad Albatoul

Riad pulitissimo, stanza confortevole e curata, personale attento e cortese. Abbiamo provato la cena ed era ottima, un po' cara rispetto a quello che trovi in giro, ma di qualità superiore. Anche hammam e massaggio sono da provare, il massaggio è stato molto piacevole. La posizione è centralissima e perfetta per chi vuole girare a piedi, in una strada sicura e piena di negozi aperti sino a sera; meno comoda se si pensa di usare spesso i taxi, in quanto il punto di ritiro si trova a circa 800 m di distanza.

Our week in Riad Albatoul was amazing. Firstly, Ahmed and Mohcine, the managers, are wonderful. They gave us a lovely welcome with traditional tea, having organised a taxi for us from the airport and met us when the taxi couldn’t get any further into the medina. Nothing was too much trouble, they gave us tips for how to get around, how much to haggle for items in the souks and restaurant ideas. Breakfasts were great - traditional breads, eggs, fruit, orange juice and tea/coffee every day on the lovely roof terrace. We also used the roof terrace sun loungers (with large umbrella) to chill out and escape the heat and busyness of the medina for a few hours, which was very tranquil. The room itself was lovely. The bed was large and quite hard and there were different pillows to suit different preferences when we asked for them. The bathroom was beautiful and big with excellent water temperature and pressure. My partner and I had a joint hammam on site and the lady who did it for us was very sweet. It was our first experience of hammam and we loved it!

Given that Morocco is an Islamic country, the calls to prayer can be heard from the riad (including the morning one, at around 6am in October). I imagine this is unavoidable if staying anywhere in the medina though and it did not negatively affect our stay in any way.

I had a lovely stay at Riad Albatoul. The space is very nice and was a nice respite from the hot and busy streets of Marrakech. The breakfasts were delicious and varied and were a wonderful start to my day. Special shout out to Mohcinea who helped me get settled in my first day in Morocco and provided me with helpful tips I used throughout my stay in Morocco.
