Mt. Gleason Motorlodge

The price for Los Angeles is unbeatable. The motel is close from the city and far enough at the same time. Studios are not far away, Glendale college is right next to Sunland, the superb Descanso Garden is there as well as the National Forrest. In the room, we even had a kitchenette. This place makes me fell home.

Parking was free and easy. Check in was simple.

The room was advertised to have a Kitchen - all it had was a sink and eating area. No provisions for cooking whatsoever, no pots, no pans - very misleading! Also the room was outfitted with low quality towels and linens - we went out and bought our own and brought them back to the room!

The carpet felt damp. There was carpet pulled away from the from door/damage not fixed. Towels were so tiny and thin. I would have needed 4 to shower. The table had residue on it… not clean… maybe wipes with a dirty cloth. Only a sheet and thing bed cover… no actual blanket. Had to use the heater and it was sooo clunky and loud, it was so hard to sleep.

The guy seemed nice. He didn't care that I could smell smoke in my room..He was okay but not very customer service oriented. I wish I could say something more but I didn't get a bad vibe but it's what it is.

I don't like the fact there are no phones or guests allowed? No phones in the room? How can u tell me we can't have a guest? I leave for work at 10Pm usually but my ride was told I wasn't in my room. My family came by with flowers and birthday cake for me and they kicked me out of my room! They woke me up at midnight and made me leave because someone tried to pick me up for work and was told i wasn't in the room when I was. I missed work and lost 120.00 and was kicked out in the middle of the night..I have no car and had no where to go. I told them when I arrived that my room smelled like smoke and he said it was non smoking and then tells me I smoked weed in the room. There was weed smell from the second I walked in. ...so yeah for all that it really sucked

I had a reservation however when I arrived they had given my room to someone else. They told me they don’t make reservations.

The fridge in the first room was non-functional; as I was traveling with groceries on a long trip, I needed refrigeration. The motel operator apologized and moved me to another room, with a kitchen, for the rest of my stay.

The bathroom sink in the first room (#14) drained very slowly. I took the initiative to clean out the drain (it's just the kind of thing I do!) which was assembled using those cheap, dirt-trapping flexible plastic connectors and was filled with sludge and debris. The second room (#8) did not have hot water in the kitchen sink (even when I discovered the hot tap was closed under the sink and then opened it), and the bathroom sink taps were reversed (hot should be on the right, cold on the left). The shower was great in #8, with great pressure. There were very few convenient power outlets in #8. I did like the interior wooden shutters in both rooms. A note to all: always check the dates of photos that are posted on review sites: some of those posted for this motel were 5 years old and others were more recent, showing changes & upgrades to the room.
