Cheapest place to crash on a road trip spent maybe 12 hours

These places should be much cheaper they have limited to no amenities and compared to a national chain they suck. National chains (Holiday Inn Express and Hampton Inn) are only 30% more and not nasty! - Location, Locaction, Location = rip off.
