Heritage Line Ginger Cruise - Halong Bay & Lan Ha Bay

This was a very relaxing cruise and we enjoyed the excursions by bike and kayak. Everything was very well organised.

We had a very spacious room and bathroom. A fantastic experience to see the quieter side of Halong. Pool area on board was great Lots to do which may be a preference for some -we simply wanted to relax and enjoy the view.

Some of team seemed quite formal / stilted. Tips were mentioned several times -which felt quite pressurising. We had hairs on one of the towels in the bathroom. The rest of the room and vessel was very clean. The bathroom door we were told would automatically turn off the light but it didn’t . When mentioned as we were departing we were told this was planned to be changed. An unmissable experience and this specific cruise has been recommended by a friend who specialises in travel - we felt it was great but not especially good value.

Well, getting food poisoning from my dinner and spending 12 hours violently ill is certainly something I won't soon forget! And don't go expecting a sunrise/sunset...it's only if you get lucky. For me, the "outing" of taking a tender to a "genuine" village was a bore. But if you like bike riding into and out of a jungle, seeing a handful of rundown buildings and having the villagers look at YOU like you're idiots, go for it. I was safely in a golf cart, but hideously bored for 2 hours. The others also seemed to enjoy the morning kayak ride. The manager James "Bond", who I finally called at 7am for help, brought me a rehydration powder and GI meds and let me stay in the room until it was literally time to disembark. However, when presenting me with my bill, I saw that I was charged for the 2 Perrier I had consumed (the overall bill having been pre-paid). Wouldn't you think this same manager, who knew about my wretched experience, would have said, "we've waived these charges as a small apology"...? Nope!

The boat was beautiful and luxurious. It seemed special.

Beautiful boat with high quality finish and large suite. Staff went out of the way to ensure we had the best time. Food was plentiful and cooked to perfection. The steak was just as we like medium rare. Activities of bike riding onto an island visiting a local village was great. My favourite, though, was kayaking around the Bay.

Nothing, just not long enough, next time will book longer.
