Breede River Houseboat Hire

It was such a wonderful experience to be on a house boat.The bed was super comfy with a lovely warm duvet as we were on the boat in May so it was very snug in the cabiin!

The cutlery, crockery and utensils weren’t all 100% clean. Also a suggestion, although they mention you can’t use the indoor cushions outside, it would have been nice to have some cushions to use on the outdoor seating.

The location and ability to use and manage a houseboat independently. Freedom to use the river and go as far as needed within the limits.

The porta potty / shower on the boat. Wish there was another better method to dispose human waste and wash on the boat. The boat speed limit was also very slow. 12km per hour as the upper limit would be better.

We liked staying on the river and having a place to get out of the rain and wind. Comfortable table to sit, eat and play games. The kitchen had everything we needed, even an oven to cook a pizza. Bath towels and all bedding supplied.

Value for money, the check-in time was strictly 16:00 on Wednesday and we had to pay R 2000.00 a full day, check-out on Saturday was strictly 09:00 on Saturday, so we had only 2 full days and paid a whopping R 6200.00 for the trip! Fuel cost on top of this combined with the cleaning fee came to just over R3000.00. The total for the trip cost us in excess of R 9000.00, we could have gone on a cruise on MSC for 3 days, with food, fuel and cleaning included for a total of R 1,100.00 per person! We do feel very ripped off!
