"An amazing introduction to traditional Japanese culture and hospitality"

My first stay in a ryokan. Breakfast and dinner were works of art, with a lot of fish in all forms on the menu. My nakai-san and her assistants were very helpful in spite of the language barrier. I needed their help about how to eat all the wonderful dishes they served. The onsen was perfect. The ryokan switches the men’s and women’s sides so you get to try both. I took two baths every day. The staff let me leave the futon out all day so that I could take naps after exploring Arima and nearby walks and mountains. They also helped out with extra mats for the futon - I found three mats and two duvets to be quite cozy.

It was a bit hard for an older Westerner like me to be completely comfortable without any armchairs and tables, but the experience was well worth it. At any rate, I could always stretch out in the baths.

"Nice short stay to enjoy the onsen"

Great location, 5 mins from bus station, 15 mins from Rokka Ropeway. Hotel has nice and clean public baths so you don’t need to go elsewhere

No foreign TV stations for international travellers
