Tobaya Ryokan

The staff at this hotel were exceptionally kind and welcoming! We arrived on motorcycles and were able to park them for free under the shelter right by the entrance. The room was spacious, and we had a wonderfully comfortable sleep. The bathroom was also impressively large, with an equally spacious bathtub. The location is excellent, making it easy to go for a walk, sightsee, or find something delicious to eat nearby.

However, there’s only one bathroom available, so if someone takes a long time, you might have to wait quite a while. (That being said, the bath is so relaxing and enjoyable that it’s easy to understand why someone might take their time soaking! ) :)

The Ryokan was nice, tatamis were very comfortable, location was good, owners were friendly. They helped to send my family to Hikone train station, which helped a lot.

The whole property shared one bathroom facility…..which meant we had to wait for quite a while. Will be very inconvenient for groups with males and females.

15’ walking distance to the train station and 10’ish to castle area. Nice neighborhood. Interesting experience of traditional Japanese living. Hot spring bath.

Overall a incredible stay. Nice rooms, everything working as it should, good location and amazing service from the staff. My friend forgot something and had to go back and was driven to the station a second time.

Maybe the futon was a but too thin for my liking

The host made us feel at home as soon as we arrived. We were able to choose whether we wanted to have a large room a bit distant from the bathing area or a smaller closer room. The upstairs rooms would not be suitable for people with mobility issues

Authentic classic inn. We had a huge room for two of us. Family bath. Nice location on a historic street.

Great ryokan in Hikone. Good value for money, nice spa, spacious tatami mat room. Non touristy area with many nearby restaurants. Very peaceful sleep and the owner drove us to the station the next morning. Thank you for a pleasant stay.

Forr a ryokan in this price range, nothing could have been better.
