Roisin Dubh Houseboat

Breakfast, pub, and dinner options were good in the vicinity (easy walk). Very nice owner gave us two parking passes, which was really generous and which we very much appreciated. Our family we were visiting in the area were able to walk to the location from their home, which was nice. The houseboat was in a canal with a very nice walking path alongside. Easy to drive in and out of the space and area. The free WiFi was very good (good enough for our son to conduct a smooth video-call interview). The houseboat itself had everything we needed, although even after the owner showed us quickly how to light the stove, we could never do it ourselves during our two-day stay (user error, I'm sure); that was no big deal, as we were right across the street from a coffee shop.

It was a houseboat. The front bedroom our friends stayed in had a leak in the ceiling during rain (in Ireland, so a lot of rain) that pooled water on the floor in the room. They had to walk through the pooled water to get out of the bed and out of the room. The back bedroom (ours) had a tiny leak coming from what looked like a vent in the ceiling and which was not very bothersome, as it was on my husband's side. :-)

A really cosy houseboat in a great location (pubs, restaurants, shops etc very close by) with nice walks along the canal. And Ger was lovely too, and very helpful.

The boat was charming and appointed perfectly. We had 6 people, and while it was cosy it didn't feel crowded. The owner Ger went above and beyond to make sure our stay was enjoyable.

We really enjoyed our stay on the boathouse. The kids loved it and thought it was great sleeping on the canal.

Staying on the barge was our little family adventure while working away. The boat was spacious and comfortable. There was plenty of room for 4 of us and my toddler loved exploring all the levels and interesting spaces on the boat. The location is great. There is a lovely pub just across the canal serving delicious food. There’s a great play park nearby as well as a cafe. The last night of our stay there there was a storm and we were worried that the boat would sway a lot and make us all sick. It didn’t, it was surprisingly sturdy and steady. Our overall experience was very positive.

The spot is awesome, with cozy local pub in the neighborhood, shops are close. And the smal town is fabulous.

One of the bed a little bit uncomfortable but for tonight it was OK.
