Sanda Plantation Hideaway

The stay itself was magical. Surrounded by lush greenery, we fell asleep to the chorus of insects and awoke to birdsong and the gentle murmur of the river winding through the valley. Watching the mist rise at dawn and dusk felt like a quiet, sacred ritual. The food was a highlight—each meal lovingly prepared by our incredible hosts, Mega and Yusuf. “May I come in?” became the most anticipated phrase of the day, signaling another unforgettable feast made with heart. The tours they arranged were full of joy and discovery: we chased waterfalls, swam in peaceful pools untouched by crowds, picked fresh fruits and vibrant flowers, and played with goats in the barn. But beyond the activities, what stood out most was the warmth and sincerity of the people we met—hospitality so genuine it transcended language. One of the most meaningful parts of the trip came toward the end, when Mega and Yusuf brought us to visit elders and members of the local community to share food and spend time together. It was a deeply moving experience—one that reminded us that travel can be more than sightseeing. It can be a way to connect, to give back, and to share in the simple but powerful joy of human kindness. In that moment, all differences—of language, culture, and background—disappeared, and what remained was a true sense of shared humanity. And just when we thought the journey couldn’t get any more special, Mega and Yusuf surprised us on our final evening with a traditional ceremonial dance performed by two young girls in the tent. It was an incredibly touching and joyful moment—an expression of cultural pride and heartfelt appreciation that left us in awe. We felt not just welcomed, but honored to witness such a beautiful gesture, one that made the spirit of the place shine even more brightly. We are deeply grateful for this experience, and we know with certainty: we will return.

The location, the people, the intent by the owners to give back to the local community.

Really special experience. Though they claim it a "hobby", the couple/owners adopt a level of service, detail and quality that is superlative. Really some of the best local food we have had on the island (we are expats of many years), and details like quality soap, personal coffee machines, food served by owners to the room directly, soft like-new scented towels and respectful pricacy felt choreographed by a luxury Eco brand safari experience. It requires an adept driver and preferably a smallish car for the last 200 meters of the drive, but its part of being in a charmingly remote jungle plantation. Great altermative to Munduk and closer to the major cities too.

Everything! It was an incredible experience. Although the owners were away, the staff took very good care of me. Dedy was in charge during my stay, and he did a great job. His English is good and he's very friendly and helpful. He even took me to my next destination, which I was really grateful for. I had one of the best meals in Bali there. And a really good sleep. Absolutely loved it!

Sanda Plantation has a magical quality - we felt so comfortable, relaxed, and inspired! The views from the bedroom and bathroom are divine; Mega's cooking is delicious; the walks through the rice paddies in the morning so calming and wonderful. Welcome to the Bali you remember :)

This place is magical. Everything about it was absolutely impeccable - I could not possibly have hoped for more. From the moment I arrived it felt like I'd come home. I genuinely did not want to leave. The amazing view kept me absorbed for hours but when I needed to move my body, there were lovely walks through the rice fields or plantation. The food was incredible, I felt so thoroughly spoilt. The tent itself is well made with so many thoughtful details. It was the most relaxing place and my favourite so far in all of my travels to Bali. I will definitely be back and I already miss Timmy the dog. The 4WD Jeep Tour was fun and I had a couple of great massages also. Just wonderful. I stayed 4 nights and could have stayed for much longer.

We were successfully met and the host helped us with parking our car. Just a note for unexperienced drivers, the last few hundred meters is quite thin road, if you feel uncomfortable, it's better to call the host for assistance. However this is nothing to what is waiting for you. Spectacular view from the tent-room. While you enjoys it, an excellent dinner is coming. Sleeping in the heart of the farm is something you never forget unless you wake up. Beautiful sunrise over the rice fields just from your bed looks amazing. Then you can take a breakfast in the tent and walk through rice fields and other farms around. This is something you would like to repeat again. Thanks you Toine and Mega.

We had high expectations for this stay given the exceptional reviews we read when making the booking, and somehow our experience exceeded our expectations. We loved it so much that we cancelled our accommodation at another booking and stayed a second night. The hosts were just so lovely, friendly, kind and welcoming. The Wandi tent was in such a beautiful setting, it was so peaceful and it was the most relaxed we had felt during our 3 week trip. Every thing has been thought of and executed so well and with so much care. The food was probably the standout, it wasn’t just the best food we experienced while in Indonesia, but some of the best food we’ve ever eaten (and we come from Melbourne which is a foodie city!). It was made with love, patience and heart. We were incredibly sad to leave, but we will absolutely be back next year…but for longer this time! Thanks Tonie and Mega, you guys make an incredible team!
