Bugs in the room but to be expected in the outback!

Ideal location on the main street, this accommodation is aimed fair and square at the tourist. Part of a 2 site accommodation complex, I spent 1 night at the lower key, cheaper site before leaving for 1 night and returning for a night. The low key cheaper site was quite comfortable and I was surprised when checking in for the second night that they had upgraded me to the other more expensive site across the road.

The Staging Post looks like a basic motel which has undergone a reno to make it look like an old outback homestead, complete with antique wagons in what used to be the car park area so parking was limited to street parking. The interiors had been renovated to make them look like an old tin shed complete with various display items and character pieces. Although all the mod cons were included like fridge, TV and comfy bed, the rooms were a bit dark and somewhat depressing with polished concrete floors with animal hides as mats. The whole thing just seemed very contrived.

Steps

Booked for two nights, extended for another two and then one more. Location ideal. Easy walking distance to everything and comfortable hike to the slightly out of town attractions like the Qantas Founders Museum and the Stockman's Hall of Fame. Shanaka and his team of staff were very professional and personable. Highly recommended.
