The staff bent over forwards to help us and understand our few words of Japanese, very welcoming. Comfy tatami room, nice onsen, little village on edge of Matsumoto town with some evening food options but no breakfast options. But that was okay because we'd brought food and there was coffee and tea at the hotel.

Location was a little out of the way, but nice forest backdrop up the street visible from our window. No breakfast options at hotel or nearby. Older onsen hotel, charming in its own way.

"Lovely and genuine ryokan with exceptional customer service"

The personal was beyond amazing. They were extremely friendly and helpful since we arrived and cattered to all our needs. They were true professionals and showed that they care for their ryokan and its guests. Moreover, the ryokan was in perfect condition with a lovely vintage atmosphere to it. The room was finely decorated with genuine Japanese style. Truly a gem.
