"Extremely disappointing"

3.0

Th location is great. The huge flat TV screen is great - but that's the least important when travelling to the Outer Hebrides.

This was advertised as "bed and breakfast" - we had to pick up our key from an anonymous key safe. We walked into the tiny room and the soles of our shoes kept sticking to the floor - our brand new white slippers had a black sole after only two evenings there because the floor was so dirty. Toilet brush was not clean, shelf in the bathroom had a layer of dust, not to mention the floor. The room seems to have been a shop in the past, there was no window apart from a tiny square on hip level. You felt like in a dark box, the main light switches did not work and we only had light in a corner. There is no proper table or chairs and one of us had to sit on the bed to have breakfast. Breakfast: there was a basket with three £1 pots of porridge where you add hot water (a total of 3 pots for two gusts for two days!), and there was a cornflakes (all bran) and muesli dispenser. The dispenser was dirty and when opening the lid for the all bran the inside smelled as if it hadn't been cleaned in months. There was 1 liter of juice in the fridge and a pint of milk. The fridge was not plugged in when we arrived, and when we plugged it in it made a terrible noise all night. We had to go to the supermarket to buy our own breakfast. We stayed two nights, did not see any hosts and there was no room service or stocking up of breakfast for the next day. This place is okay if you only expect a room for a night with no comfort, but I feel ripped off having paid for a B&B.

Simple breakfast but plenty of cereal and added touches of orange juice and fruit.

Better ventilation.

Very comfortable and nicely situated place. Spent two nights there, was just perfect. I got a comfortable nice clean room in a quiet street, just a few yard away from the marina. Hostess called now and then to ensure everything OK. Just perfect.

"A good overnight stay with great location for catching or arriving off the ferry."

clean and had a very comfortable bed, very convenient for the ferry terminal. Good breakfast provided.

Was cold, it had a very high ceiling and tiled floor which made it hard to heat

"Comfortable and cosy room in a great location."

8.0

Breakfast was good. Location was perfect - right in the heart of Stornoway. Bed was very comfy! Shower was lovely and warm. Great communication with host.

The apartment sometimes smelled quite strongly of cigarette smoke. I think people must have been smoking in the close next door, which wafted through to the room. Ceiling lights didn't work.
