The refund

The advert is completely dishonest. It said it had a private bathroom. It doesn't. It is shared with about 40 other people and was dirty, would turn off every ten seconds and was cold. The front door doesn't lock so you can't leave anything in there. What was very worrying is despite our booking saying it was for lapwing, but when we were on the phone to the manager asking about the lack of lock and private bathroom she told us we were in goldfinch. I've rechecked many times our booking definitely says lapwing. Its a very good job no one was in lapwing when we got there as there was no lock so we were able to walk straight in. And it's a good job we phoned the manager because if not, when the group in lapwing showed up the next day they would have just walked in on us. The accommodation is filthy, stains on the walls and lots of hairs on the pillows and bed sheets. The rest of the site was booked up by one group of what I counted to be 40 other people who stayed up late playing music loud, singing, smoking, drinking and had kids that were shining torches through our windows. We couldn't sleep. The manager told us on the phone "well what did you expect?". What I expected was a private bathroom as was advertised, a lock on the front door (something that I would consider quite standard and if your accommodation doesn't have one then perhaps mention it in the advert) and I also didn't expect to share the site with one massive group. It felt like we were invading their weekend away and made us feel very uncomfortable. I would also expect basic standards of hygiene (eg the pillows shouldn't be covered in hairs and the shower shouldn't be covered in a brown substance that I am hoping was just mud. Also it says it has a stove and a kitchen. But in reality the kitchen was just a kettle, toaster and a sink. No fridge to keep any food in.

Great location and comfortable stay.

It would have been better if there was hot tub available.

"Fabulous accommodation & clean but can be noisy depending on other guests but centrally allocated for a lot of attra"

9.0

We booked the safari tent as alternative accommodation and it didn’t disappoint. We are not campers but this gave us the experience with some of the luxury’s- electricity, bed, lighting. The shower block was immaculate, a loo can be found in the safari tent.

Unfortunately there was a group booking of young lads who came in drunk at 10:30pm & continued to make noise until 2:30am & noise travels well with just the canvas. The cleaner was very apologetic but did spoil our stay.

Booked the alternative accommodation to allow us freedom of space, especially with the dog. Plenty of space to walk around the site and the hub cafe wasn't far to walk. Great for relaxing.

Chilly at night , at this time of year.

"A great base for the Cotswolds."

10.0

A very comfortable log cabin (inside a Safari Tent) - a great base for the Cotswolds, and very peaceful. Plenty of room for five of us.

Nothing.

The environment

The bed sheets are self service, electric heaters turn off every 30 minutes, bathroom is shared, even though it is said to be PRIVATE. And in that shared bathroom, water temperature is not adjustable, and it turns off every half a minute. All guests in cooler season are expected to buy firewood, which costs £20.00. And the burner is small so I can't expect it to burn for a long time at all. They even made the location wrong, so that following the POI on booking.com lead me to the middle of a road which is surrounded by woods and grass. I had to read the instruction (starting from the neighboring city and following which road and take which turn etc.) carefully to decipher the location. It would be impossible for travelers with not so good English and map reading skills to find it at all.
