Nayalap - Rural Himalayan Glamping

Nayalap is a true hidden gem! This serene retreat offers the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. The tents are cozy and thoughtfully designed, and the food and service are exceptional. The guided tours were the highlight of our three-week trip to India—Tanuja is an incredible host, and her insights into the local culture and sights added so much depth to our experience. We were fortunate to have an amazing view of the Himalayan peaks, stretching from Trishul to Panchachuli, which made the experience even more magical. While these views depend on the weather, the immediate surroundings are consistently breathtaking and provide a tranquil haven. Highly recommended!

Nayalap is a treasure nestled among the hills of Kumaon. Peaceful surroundings, pristine natural beauty, pure mountain air and surrounded by gorgeous forests and orchards does not even begin to describe its excellent location. A perfect place for family or friends to spend some quiet and quality time in the lap of nature - far enough from the crowds. The accommodation exceeded our expectations and lacked nothing of comfort. The staff was extremely courteous and prepared the most stunning meals. The local cuisine was really special. Chandan ji went out of the way to make sure that all our needs were well taken care of promptly. No words of praise are enough for the host Tanuja ji. Her personal touch in everything, from accompanying us on the moderately difficult but refreshing forest walk, explaining and describing the flora and fauna, going with us on a wonderful picnic to the creek - to helping us out when we got stuck with a mechanical problem with our car, made our stay at Nayalap memorable. Thank you Tanuja ji for everything, we will certainly come again soon.

Nayalap was one of our favorite destinations in all of India. It is located in a beautiful mountainous setting and seamlessly integrated into the surrounding village. Tanuja, its founder, is a wonderful guide and leads fascinating walking tours to the nearby villages (including partially uninhabited villages) about the local traditions and village life, as well as to beautiful lookout points. There is so much intention that goes into ensuring that Nayalap provides opportunities to the local community, who otherwise are facing significant environmental and economic challenges. The food was extraordinary -- we loved the local Kumaoni dishes that were cooked with so much love, it was the best food of our entire India trip.

The location is just beautiful and serene. This is for people like me who like solace and peace and enjoy nature to the fullest. Not for someone who wants the hustle bustle of towns/cities, but for anyone who wants to have a laid back vacation. The overall cost is slightly on the higher side, but it is worth every rupee spent. Breakfast is a good and part of the package, lunch and dinner are fixed menus and cost around 500 INR per plate.

Larger geysers will surely be needed, especially during winters. The current size is too small for a whole family to have a hot water bath.

Location was amazing, tents were great, food was great…most importantly completely pet friendly..overall great hospitality.
