Quatermain's 1920's Safari Camp – Amakhala Game Reserve

Wir hatten leider viel Pech mit dem Wetter,wir konnten nur einen Game Drive machen, trotzdem konnten wir paar nachtaktive Tiere sehen. Am nächsten Tag ist das Camp Unterwasser gestanden ,da der Fluss über Nacht angestiegen ist.Ein Ereignis,was vor ca .20 Jahren das letzte Mal statt gefunden hat. Riaan und sein Team waren fantastisch. Wir haben im Haus von Riaan Zuflucht bekommen und wir wurden bestens versorgt,uns hat es an nichts gefehlt. Am nächsten Tag hat Riaan und sein Team alles dafür getan,damit wir Amakhala sicher verlassen konnten. Sicherlich war es ein Abenteuer,was wir so nicht gebucht hatten. Die Natur hat sich in ihrer vollen Kraft gezeigt. Vielen Dank an das Team ,wir hatten trotz allem viel Spaß. Jessie und Zaan es tut uns sehr leid, um eure Hütten. Da wir Amakhala schon kennen, wissen wir eigentlich wie schön es ist und die Tiersichtungen super sind.

We had an exceptional 2 nights stay at Quatermains! We enjoyed the small and friendly feel of the camp. We loved the sense of journeying back to a 1920s bush camp but also appreciated the modern luxuries such as a flushing loo, shower and hot tub. It was a definite privilege to sleep under canvas out in the wilderness. The main event, the game drives were wonderful. It was our first safari and we immediately felt in safe hands with Zaad who was a dab hand at getting us respectively close to the action time and time again, sharing years of knowledge along the way. The camp staff, Kyle and David were the perfect hosts and were full of enthusiasm. It was a treat to share an evening with Riaan the co owner and hear tales of the beginnings, middles and ongoing journey of the camp and the wider reserve.

A beautiful setting and the facilities are simply perfection! All of the staff are welcoming and incredibly knowledgeable. The food is wholesome and delicious - particularly the breakfast! The homemade bread was amazing. The game drives are wonderful, brilliant guides and no feeling of being rushed.
