Stable Cottages

Absolutely lovely helpful hosts. Greeted me in the rain and helped me in with my many bags. The cottages were renovated with disability very high on the agenda. I was so impressed at the wet room for shower and also extra seating facilities for bathroom as needed, as well as the knee wedge for my bed to help my back and copious amounts of towels. The bed was super comfortable for me, I slept so well here, with the two memory foam mattress toppers. The place immediately smelled fresh on entry. I felt so at home and secure with the hosts on hand. Handy size small kitchen had everything I needed for 4 days, even supplied dish soap, sponge, cloths, tea towels and some fresh eggs and milk jug. Plenty of air fresheners and nice hot bathroom heater. Electric heaters in rooms, the controls were a bit fiddly but they did work and I wasn't chilly once during this rainy September week. I honestly could not think of any extra amenity I needed. Some people comment on the hair raising exit into the junction onto the main road from the country lane for the cottage but during the day I had no problem seeing oncoming traffic. I didn't drive at night. The home comforts really helped me feel settled during my visit for family reasons. On the first night relatives joined me and plenty of extra bedding was provided for the living room sofa bed and fold out bed with mattress. Plenty of utensils in kitchen, table mats and I noticed a dvd player under the TV, few games there too. I won't hesitate to stay again. The only technical issue was the mobile phone signal and broadband problems which I mentioned separately in case anything can be done for the WiFi. Communication was very hard by phone. May be worth visitors checking their mobile network before going. Location was convenient for my regular visits to Freshwater area to see family, and around 20 minutes from centre of island. It is very quiet here as it is on a farm I didn't hear anything here. A great find.

Unfortunately "Smarty" aka Three network mobile signal is almost non-existent here so I could not communicate with anyone which is not the fault of the hosts, and the cottage broadband download speed was only 2mbps so it was very hard to browse the Internet and upload and send files although interestingly I was able to stream TV so maybe the fibre network is limited here also which is also outside the control of the hosts as where you live is luck when it comes to broadband infrastructure. I'm not sure if the broadband and WiFi problems are fixable. I have complained to my mobile phone network provider about the poor coverage there anyway for the mobile phone issues. I tried to make Internet calls In the end which I just about managed to do.

Owners live onsite. Welcoming, smiling and approachable. The cottage was clean. Bed all set up well. Kitchen, toilet and bathroom clean , tidy.

Stable Cottages are located in lovely, peaceful area. Accommodation was cosy and equipped in everything what needed. Everything nicely prepared with little additional in kitchen. Hosts are really lovely people and always very helpful. Was sad to leave 🙂
