Villa Karavos Waterfront

Karavalos apartments are very well located, being a short walking distance from the town and enjoying wonderful views over the harbour. The apartment is very well appointed with a good kitchen and dining area and lots of options for sitting outside and enjoying a meal on the balcony, patio or by the pool. The hosts were very friendly and gave us a warm reception (even offering us some of the famous local Skopelos cheese pie). We also appreciated the location for hiking; head straight up the hill for monasteries and wonderful hilltop views of the sea. All in all, a lovely stay with lovely people in a lovely spot. Recommended especially if you like cats.

Excellent location for walking into town. Marilena was a lovely host and very kindly sorted our laundry that got soaked in an unexpected downpour. She also allowed us to stay an extra couple of hours as our ferry was not until 13:35. The twin beds downstairs are very comfortable with good pillows and there were plenty of nice towels. There is a lovely balcony upstairs with nice furniture to sit and look over the harbour although the stairs to it are lethal, definitely not suitable for children or the elderly. The WiFi is excellent and great to have access to Netflix, Prime etc.

The pool was faulty on our arrival on Saturday and even when it was fixed on Tuesday evening, we found it too cold to use, the sea was much warmer! The steps take up a good third of the pool such that you bang your feet on them trying to swim. We usually like to spend some time by the pool so it’s annoying to pay for something that you can’t use. I appreciate that the house is a traditional stone house but it is in need of modernisation or at the very least a deep clean. There is just a kitchenette rather than full kitchen, the fridge freezer should be replaced, it is way past its best. There is not a dishwasher which you tend to expect as standard in a property of this size. The ground outside the house is very rough and would benefit from some landscaping. All these things you could dismiss if the price had been much lower but in this price bracket, they should be addressed. The price is based on potential full occupancy rather than the quality of the facilities. Such a shame as it could be really lovely. We did have a lovely stay in Skopelos but I would not have booked this property at this price, particularly as it’s not peak season, had I known the issues.

Das Haus ist deutlich kleiner als es auf den Bildern wirkt. Die Terrasse im OG ist sehr schön, bis 14:00 Uhr kann man da sehr schön sitzen. Danach ist sie in der Sonne ohne Sonnenschutz. Die terrassenmöbel sind anders als auf den Bildern. Eher Lounge Möbel. Die Zimmer sind gut klimatisiert. Es gibt genug Steckdosen. Die „Küche“ ist zum gemütlich kochen nicht geeignet. Die Treppe und die Haustür sind da direkt daneben. Am Pool steht ein schöner Baum der Sonnenschutz bietet. Die Vermieter waren aber sehr freundlich und haben bei Problemen sofort reagiert.

Die Zimmer sind sehr einfach möbliert. (Ikea) Ein Bett und eine offene Kleiderstange. Kaum bis gar keine Ablagemöglichkeit. Der Sonnenschutz am Pool ist kein echter Sonnenschutz. Das Haus steht auf dem Grundstück der Besitzer, deren Haus direkt daneben steht. Davor ist ein großer Parkplatz. Die Küchenzeile hinter der eingangstür ist sehr spartanisch eingerichtet und zum richtigen kochen für uns nicht geeignet.

The location was incredible , with open views across the bay of skopelos town , walkable in 10 mins . But it felt quiet and separate from the hustle and bustle of the town . Amazing !

All was very good

Despite the fact that it was a very short stay, we had a pleasant experience. The location of the villa is excellent in Chora Skopelos, with a beautiful view of the old town and the sea. The owners are friendly, hospitable and keep it very clean. We parked the car in its open grounds. We are sure we will be back to stay more days.
