Apartments Garden Opatija

Wir waren bereits das zweite Jahr in Folge hier und uns hat absolut alles gefallen. Die Lage ist super, ein Supermarkt ist in der Nähe und das Meer ist ebenfalls nicht weit entfernt und zu Fuß erreichbar. Alles war ausgezeichnet.

Great accommodation – super clean and comfortable, you have all you need. The kitchenette is well-equipped, and the internet works well. The house is in a quiet area, very close to both the supermarket and the seashore. (Though uphill). The owners are extremely friendly and helpful. I’d choose private accommodation over a hotel any day – the hospitality here is much more personal and welcoming than in big hotels.

If I’m being nitpicky, the cushions could be a bit more comfortable. But that’s a minor detail in an otherwise great stay.

Beautiful view of the sea at sunrise, easy access by car or by foot, host is very friendly.

The water heater could be a little bigger, but at least until it is ready we can enjoy the seaview.

Apartment is as described

Host is not on site to assist and us exceptionally unkind, inflexible and not welcoming at all I invested 3 days to shorten my stay as I felt unwelcome, unsafe and at risk of damaging my car or suffering accident. My troubles started before I arrived. I had to drive 500km on unknown road and was running late. I wrote to host apologizing and asking if it is ok to come later. To this I got response that I need to bring 100 euros in cash for a damage deposit to enter property and pay 10 euros in cash for each hour I am late after 21h. It was Sunday and had nowhere to change money. ATM I could find on the road did not accept my Canadian bank card. I had to choose if to stop at every ATM and be even more late or not use this accomodation. I explained situation to host via text and got no response. I offered to pay some penalty and not come at all and I got a lecture on how I did not read instructions how everyone has something and how there is no flexibility. Colleague who saw me struggling offered to borrow me money but I really did not feel comfortable going to a place where I host argues with me instead of trying to resolve situation. Things become worse when I came close to apartment. Road leading to apartment in narrow for one car, with sharp serpentines, crumbled and 2 way! Cars back to small inlets to pass each other. Parking host gave a map to is too narrow for small SUV to pass. I came at 20:45h walking from nearest wild parking through dark walk path to be let in by an elderly woman who asked me if I have cash for deposit. Host was not even on site and there was nobody to show me where can I leave vehicle. Host was on the phone with the woman and had explained to me on speaker phone that deposit is there because people did not sort garbage or close light!? I stood wet from rain, shaking after dangerous drive wondering what to do while the woman collected cash. I gave cash and went to ask people around where to leave car.
