Petra Nera Skiathos, Philian Hotels & Resorts

I travelled with a group of friends to celebrate our birthdays. We were slightly worried about booking a hotel that was being refurbished but we should not have been and we absolutely made the right choice. From even before we arrived we found the hotel responsive and helpful and this continued. The hotel has been renovated to a very high standard and is clean, tastefully furnished, light and airy. Our rooms were all spacious and comfortable. The pool area and bar were perfect for lazy mornings and afternoons with a very handy pool bar. Lots of loungers and never any issue with availability. The dining area has a fabulous view and breakfast was one of the best and most varied I have encountered. Everything was delicious and fresh. Food and cocktails also delicious. The very best thing about this hotel however was the staff. They genuinely could not have done more to make our stay the wonderful experience it was. They were not at all intrusive but always there when needed. On arrival we were taken to reception on the golf buggy by Kostas and Aaron and they were always on hand when needed (or even just when we were being lazy and wanted the fun of the ride) The reception staff were excellent and the manager, Eleni, in particular was spot on with all her advice and recommendations and went above and beyond to assist with bookings etc. She is real asset. In the restaurant all of the staff were polite and helpful but Altea stood out and has given us some excellent recommendations for future trips. The location is perfect. Very near bus stop 16 with buses every 10 minutes to Skiathos Town (15 minute trip). 5 minute walk to the beach and excellent tavernas. We loved every minute of our stay and cannot recommend this hotel enough.

The only thing I would suggest is some comfortable low seating near the bar area where it would be nice to sit in the evenings to have a drink before going out.

The friendly staff were the highlight. Literally everyone went an extra mile and having then gone on to another hotel nearby ( after Petra Nera ) we thought Petra Nera was much the most friendly. They also had coffee machine in the room and added new pods daily , a welcome drink and a complimentary bottle of wine. We were also upgraded to a room with a jacuzzi and although we weren’t fussed about that it indicated the kind of hotel they are - they really care about their guests having a great time . The breakfast was fine. Very similar to all Greek breakfast buffets but they did make special coffees for my daughter from the machine, which again the next hotel that we went to, did not even though it cost more. The buggy drivers Kostas and Arron were great and took us up and down and nothing was too much trouble. Eleni at front desk was delightful and so helpful. A great little hotel.

I would have loved fresh juice at breakfast but maybe that’s too expensive. The lighting in the room was a little dark.

Very well run hotel which was very clean and tidy. Facilities excellent. Breakfast included, with a wide selection of foods. Staff very professional, polite and welcoming.

A property that is not suitable for the infirm, since the property is located on several levels on a steep hillside.

Ok for most guest but elderly guest with restricted mobility would find it difficult to get around even with the golf cart that take guest up & down the different levels

From the moment we arrived, our experience at the hotel was absolutely fantastic! The room was spotless, spacious, and beautifully decorated, with attention to every detail. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing – the perfect place to unwind. What truly made our stay unforgettable was the staff, and especially the reception team. They were incredibly welcoming, kind, and always ready to help with a genuine smile. Their professionalism combined with warm hospitality made us feel right at home from the very first moment. They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and provided great recommendations for the area. It’s rare to come across such high-level service with a personal touch. A heartfelt thank you to everyone – we will definitely return and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a truly pleasant stay!

Staff were incredibly hospitable and the view is to die for. The staff organised free transfers all over the island.

My wife and I had a lovely time staying at Petra Nera. The staff are incredibly welcoming and do their utmost to ensure you have a lovely stay. The cleaners are also fantastic. The rooms are nice, although I think there could be some useful additions to improve QoL a little such as adding drying racks outside and more caddys in the bathroom. The hotel is a new build, and so we did experience some minor kinks whilst we were there. However, the staff would address anything immediately and go out of their way to ensure that you are compensated and more for any inconvenience. Skiathos is a truly beautiful island and I do recommend visiting. There's not a huge amount to do so I would recommend 1 week or 2 if you want to lay around doing nothing in the sun for the majority of the time.

It’s a tastefully decorated brand new hotel with the most wonderful staff who pampered us throughout our whole stay. We arrived early and received complimentary breakfast until our room was prepared. Our room was comfortable in the top building with a nice terrace and breathtaking view. Breakfast had excellent variety. I especially recommend the traditional Greek spinach pie. Cleaning was daily. Pool was nice with a pool bar and towels (cheers to the friendly bartender). There was also a golf cart (buggy) available to drive hotel guests around on the premises. The two drivers - Aron and Costas - are both lovely people. There some nice restaurants around the hotel, we especially recommend Maistrali, a traditional, family-owned Greek tavern. The bus stop (16) is right by the hotel and takes you to Skiathos old town (the port). Do visit the beautiful monastery Evangelistra, too (minibuses leave from the port). A nice sandy beach is a 5-minute walk from the hotel. On our last day we left quite early and the kitchen staff prepared a take-away breakfast for us. All in all, it was a great stay. We’d like to thank the lovely staff who made our holiday truly special.
