"A comfortable and characterful B&B, ideal as a base for exploring Somerset and Devon"

9.0

An inventively adapted and beautifully furnished house. We thought the bathroom to be particularly smart. Good comms from the owner. The piano needed tuning but was playable. Good selection of books and games for a rainy day. TV took a bit of figuring out - never did discover why it would happily display Netflix but the signal was too poor for BBC iPlayer (they're both delivered over the same terrestrial medium, as far as I know). 4G is patchy (esp. O2), but the house WiFi worked well. The owner's restaurant/pub/shopping recommendations were spot on. Didn't need to touch the heating or hot water controls all week.

The smoke alarm in the kitchen was so sensitive that it severely limited use of the oven or grill. We were not informed that local service providers would be accessing the back yard, so that was somewhat alarming at 07:30 in the morning, mid-week. By comparison, other property owners have been far more generous with basic provisions - a little bit of cooking oil, salt & pepper and some milk would have been nice, to complement the four tea bags.

Beautiful chapel, in a lovely quiet spot. As musicians, we enjoyed having use of the baby grand piano. Very spacious and everything we needed.

"Beautiful comfortable cottage in great location"

10.0

Beautiful cottage - the master bedroom feels like stepping back in time! Well-equipped kitchen and small but secure courtyard we could let the dog out into. Nice to have the log burner to supplement the central heating. And, of course, a grand piano in the living room! Great base for exploring three counties, too.

All good (Heating didn't work on one evening but it was fine.)

"Beautiful and well equipped Chapel conversion."

9.0

Beautiful converted Chapel, full of character, in a beautiful village setting. The baby grand piano was the cherry on the cake, a wonderful surprise for my musical son. Dark skies made it possible to see lots of stars at night.

Possibly due to our ineptitude we struggled to light the wood burner without filling the room with smoke. With -3c outside it would have made things a lot cosier.

"Comfortable and relaxing"

8.0

Really comfortable beds. Very quiet location. Well equipped kitchen although advertises for 6 people and only 4 chairs and tableware for 4. There were only 2 of us staying so it didn't matter for us.

Said there were tea and coffee making facilities but no coffee or tea or milk on arrival. Also dish washer present but no tablets Cistern very noisy and although advised to run a tap didn't improve this. 4 slice toaster but only 2 slots worked. Difficult to pull out onto main road due to visibility - could do with a mirror opposite.

"A lovely holiday home"

8.0

The chapel itself was lovely, we had to re-arrange the furniture a little so that all of our family could sit comfortably in the living room, as the sofa only seated two. The kitchen facilities were perfect. Washing machine and dryer were all very useful to have, with a clothes drying rack. There was a pub within walking distance which served food, all in all we did not find a huge amount to do in the area, as the closest village Chard, was quite small with not a lot happening. Axminister might be better, but we did not have time to visit. A drive to Lyme Regis proved to be the best day trip.

The heating system was quite tricky, and we couldn't figure out how to turn on the system following the instructions. The shower seemed to run out of hot water very quickly, which was problematic for a family of five. We managed ok though, and I'm sure Stephen would have sorted it it out of we had asked him to.

"A perfect stay, we would have wished forever!"

10.0

The atmosphere here, the deco, everything was perfect. The bed were si comfy! Such a beautiful place. One a a few places where we would dream to live. Near wildlife but very close to human life. The owner is very thoughtful and quick to answer. Everything useful and needed is provided.

We didn't stay long enough!
