Comfortable and well appointed apartment. Gabrielle, our host, was charming and very helpful. The beds were comfortable

The stone stairs leading up to the apartment were long, narrow and steep, and the steps were high. I was staying there with a cousin in her late 70s who and has difficulty walking and climbing stairs. She had great difficulty climbing the stairs to the apartment whenever we returned to the apartment. On one occasion, she fell back at the top of the stairs, but thankfully, I was behind her and broke her fall and strong enough to save her. Had I not been there, she would have fallen to the bottom of the stairs and been seriously injured. The apartment is not suitable for anyone with a mobility issue. This was not obvious when I made the booking and should be made clear. It is an excellent apartment for anyone who is fit and able, such as me even though I am in my 80s, but it is not suitable for anyone who has a mobility issue.

Location was perfect and our host was exceptional in helping us locate apartment. Very informative and lots of a tips as to what to do in lecce. We were welcomed into the apartment to a beautiful dining table set, with fresh fruit, and pastries. Gabrielle our Host had even filled the fridge with a gorgeous array of cheese, fresh strawberries, yoghurt and juice. Even beer was supplied. Thank you Gabrielle you went above and beyond, and made our stay a very comfortable one.

Gabriele went above and beyond to help us with recommendations of places to see, restaurants, etc. The location is excellent. The rooms were very spacious. We asked for a cot and we got it. There's TV in each room. Perfect for a family of 4.

Beautiful and in the heart of Lecce. Close access to restaurants and local attractions

Gabriele is the host for this apartment. Of all our years using rental properties through all booking services, Gabrielle is the best host we ever had. He spent time with us to make sure we got the details of the apartment, he also made sure we got the best out of Lecce and the surrounding areas. We loved the fact he showed up with pasticcioti as we spent almost two weeks in Lecce. We will come back to San Matteo and Lecce in the near future. Gabriele Gracie Mille. Spaciousness, the bedrooms are huge. The living are and kitchen perfectly adequate. The location outstanding as is the attention to detail and the little thoughtful things that were very much appreciated. Our host is a lovely person who clearly runs a great set up. Highly recommended

Just the stairs, but it is an historic building right in the centre of the old town so to be expected. Everything really was excellent

The apartment was comfortable and clean. The bed was excellent and the AC worked well. The location is right in the old section area of Lecce so you get a great flavor of this beautiful Baroque city. Gabriele provided us with a refrigerator stocked with milk, cheese, yogurt, fruit and mortadella! He also left bread, pastry, coffee and tea. A few days into our stay he refreshed the supply. He is VERY attentive host. His English is limited, but I know some Italian so between the two of us, we were able to work things out. Gabriele made a number of excellent dining suggestions which we enjoyed following as well as a recommendation for a nearby laundry to wash our clothes. Street parking was easier than I expected. I recommend using the app Easy Park to simplify paying parking fees.

Finding the apartment was a little difficult. A better description of the location would have helped, like navigate to the Porta San Biagio in Lecce. The apartment has no windows except for one located in the dining area. Not a big deal if you are reasonably fit, but you need to climb 26 stairs to reach the apartment.

San Matteo House has the best possible location in the heart of a historical center, just next to the most beautiful antique store in Lecce, perfect to discover Lecce and its surroundings. Parking was very easy to find. It’s very quite even though it’s a very central location. House is very nicely decorated, the owner is an architect and that you can tell as soon as you come into the apartment :) It’s perfect for a couple, family or even two couples as it has two separate rooms with bathrooms. After 3 days the cleaning lady came to change the sheets and clean, that was very nice gesture and much appreciated. We were very pleasantly surprised as we were welcomed with a package of water, bottle of local wine, milk, cheese, yogurts, coffe, tea, pasta..everything you can imagine, it’s a first time that we experienced such a welcome. We were welcomed by the owner Gabriele who is absolutely the best part of the whole experience. He was the best host you could ever imagine. We came with a baby and he immediately bought us a baby bed so we all feel comfortable. Everything that we needed he provided immediately. He gave us all the tips for the restaurants, coffe shops, experiences.. We don’t speak Italian so he helped us to call and arrange anything we needed. It’s a truly on of a kind experience and we can recommend it enough.

Every single detail was PERFECT

Spacious rooms with good AC, kitchen was stocked from when we arrived. The host was very nice and informative about the local area. Location is right in the center of Old town Lecce.

Only thing would have been to have AC in common areas but we were there during a heatwave, probably not needed in regular months
