Hostal Los Orishas

Superó mis expectativas. Yo venía de trabajar muchísimo por semanas, con un agotamiento bárbaro y quedarme en Orishas fue lo mejor que me pasó porque la habitación con el aire acondicionado fue fantástica para un sueño reparador, no se escuchaba nada de ruido, fue tranquilo y recuperé mi energía. Fue fantástico también levantarse y ver que ahí mismo tienen restaurante, o sea es todo lo que uno puede pedir, y a pesar de estar cerca del restaurante no había ruido alguno. Super bien construido el lugar! Amé además que tengan separadas las basuras de vidrio, latas, plástico y papel, excelente!!! me sentí muy a gusto y volvería sin duda.

The listing explicitly states "No credit card required" and "Pay at the property," which is what I booked under. After confirmation, the host messaged demanding a 50% advance deposit via bank transfer or PayPal — with the PayPal option carrying an additional $10 surcharge to cover their own transaction fees. This directly contradicts the listing terms. There is no reception at the property and no ATM in Ayampe, which makes a cash-only or advance-deposit demand unreasonable for anyone relying on what Booking advertised. The host appears to use the platform to attract guests while operating outside its payment policies. I paid only the total Booking quoted at the time of booking and declined both the deposit and the surcharge. If you book here, expect a post-confirmation message asking you to send money through channels Booking does not endorse, and to absorb the host's payment fees on top. What's advertised on the listing is not what the host actually requires once you've booked.

El colchón estaba extremadamente incómodo. Fue muy difícil descansar bien.

Our initial reaction was that this was a very pleasant place. The facilities and decor are basic, but everything you could need is there. The location is close to the ocean, with lots of nature around. My mum really enjoyed the pizzas in the restaurant, saying they were as good as the ones in Sicily.

KEEP YOUR VALUABLES ON YOU AT ALL TIMES. I'm partially to blame for putting too much trust in the owners/employees, but the cute and peaceful atmosphere made me feel at ease. I didn't think I'd have anything to worry about. I had some money rolled up in my wallet, which I hid in my clothes on a shelf inside the room when we went for a walk. We always locked the door, and the only people who had access were the cleaners who came in every day to take out the rubbish. I didn’t open my wallet until we were leaving, and that’s when I noticed it was partially open and all the money was gone. I contacted the owner, but she was unapologetic and insisted her employees were trustworthy because "she had worked with them for 14 years and they are honest people." However, after retracing all my steps, the only explanation is that someone came into the room while we were out and took the money. Be careful and don’t be too trusting. Ideally, don’t lose sight of anything valuable to you.
