The Burlington Hotel

The Staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was acceptable and what I would have expected from a budget hotel.

The hotel was very run-down, in general. Scraped/tatty paintwork around the doors and elsewhere - very much in need of a facelift. I accept that this was at the budget end of the market. Where it mattered - the bed, shower, etc, were clean, but you wouldn't want to look too closely in the corners. The back of the radiator, for example, was thick with dust. A shame, really, I suspect it was once a pleasant hotel - and could well be again, with the right investment. In addition, on arrival I was told that I would need to transfer to the sister hotel - The Ashley Court - on the Monday. This meant packing up and moving part-way through my stay, which lost me a good half-day and would have been extremely inconvenient, had I made arrangements for the Monday morning. No transport was offered in respect of the move and I had to pay for a taxi. Thankfully, the sister hotel was something of an improvement, although it could still use some work. Again, the staff were friendly and helpful and made an effort to make people feel welcome.

The cost was reasonable and the breakfast adequate. In general the staff were pleasant and accommodating.

Unfortunately, there was a domestic incident in the hotel one night, which from a guest's perspective wasn't handled well by the night porter. There was little communication to other guests, nor consideration of the inconvenience caused.

Terrible. It was impossible to sleep for two nights. The noise was very loud. I do not recommend it. The breakfast was not very good, only eggs.
