Antica Fortezza Villa Fontana

Everything was spectacular. The pool, rooms, grounds, views and general spaces were amazing.

- Three separate bedrooms with three genuine, fullsize beds: king or double. - A garden of vast acreage: photos do not capture the aromatics and expanse of this tantalizing citrus orchard - Air conditioning in every room, able and willing. - Silent and private: hear nothing but the rustling of the leafs. No external view angles into the poolside. Just seclusion and a light breeze. - A well-prepared host with local knowledge and some great communication in English This villa is located in a calm, entirely residential village. Judging by its supreme positioning and architecture, it is one of the two noble properties there. The other is a sister villa to the immediate north, which shares a separating cobblestone courtyard (~200 sqm), a 70m long private garden drive, a laundry room and some resident cats. The sister villa has sea views, this one doesn't. On its southern side, this elegant villa has a pedestrian entrance with about 25 stairs and a poolside courtyard paved with natural stone. It is entirely private and has a practical stone sink. The pizza oven was locked during our stay. It is perfectly shielded from external view by a 4-5 m tall wall and a further layer of trees. The same is true for the citrus orchard, extending about 50 m to the south. Fruit is entirely organic, juicy and sweet. Property is lined by a single one-way road with zero night-time noise and only a few cars during the day. The east of the villa is shaded by a lush orchestration of gardening bliss. Celebrating palm trees and oleanders, the garden extends 70m eastward. Its northern edge lines the sister property and shares a shaded promenade on gravel and fir needles. The interior is worthy of family memories, not some agency-style, Ikea solution. Well equipped kitchen. A gardener attends to the pool in the mornings but respects privacy.

The pool is a converted water reservoir, so swimmers only! Or people over 5ft 8" (175cm). Too much water to keep warm. I would welcome a child-safe pool cover, just for the scarabs' sake. There are mosquitos after sunset. There is only street parking on this narrow street and not particularly shaded or spacious.

location is tricky you really need a car as nothing to walk too I mean nothing you should also be aware you need to like cats luckily we do! but not everyone might

Amazing hosts (assisted with all our needs, including chef, boats and taxis), incredible house (perfect for large groups), stunning views, peaceful location but close to ammenities in Trapani. Can't wait to be back.
