Sundown Lodge

I have stayed over here a number of times over the years. Always the same great hosts, staff and accommodation. Great for self catering, though I always try to get a steak dinner from the restaurant, if I can make time. And it is always top class steak, and a great dinner. Swimming pool is always clean and sparkling. I recommend Sundown Lodge, and one definitely has to get a steak here, at least once. Thank you Maria and staff.

The location was highly convenient. It takes about 10 minutes from the Crocodile Bridge Gage (Kruger National Park) and the market area and restaurants are nearby. The host was super kind and nice, too. I only stayed for one night but it was worth it.

It would be better if the gap in the bathroom door could be completely sealed when closed.

Conveniently located for day trips into the Kruger National Park- under 10 minutes and you are crossing the Crocodile River into the Park. There is a Bar on the premises, so refreshments and meals are available should you arrive a little later than planned.

We have stayed in 3 of the 5 identical rooms at the back of the property on all our other stays, and we were very happy with the room and amenities. This room was on the opposite side and differed to the photos. the layout was awkward and made worse by the step to get the the bathroom and kitchen. There were exposed screw heads on the step to the bathroom, which needs to be avoided The 2 chairs were under the TV, so you couldn't sit and watch TV without some furniture re-arrangement. There was an ant problem. The bathroom extractor fan was noisy. Hot and cold water pressure was unpredictable. The shower head sprayed a high pressure hose pipe funnel of water that was uncomfortable at times. The bed level was too high and one needs to jump up onto the mattress to get into bed, or just to sit with your legs dangling off the floor and then slide off carefully. There was only 2 coffee cups, tea spoons and glasses in the kitchenette- but no other cutlery (no microwave nor countertop oven). The shelves under the sink were empty- no knives, forks, spoons, plates, bowls or dishes.

Location great, breakfast good. Oxtail for dinner superb. Welcomed by a friendly youngʻ man which made us feel at home from the word go...being in the industry myself., it was refreshing to find a person that still have a passion for the job. Thank you young man.

My second time here in five years. Still the same great place to stay. Steak from the restaurant, was again one of the best ever.
