Auberge l'Intermède du lac

Absolutely stunning lakeside property.

The room was excellent with a view of the lake. The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant exceeded our expectations. Great dinner!

We chose Disraeli for it's location and the Auberge for it's restaurant and it certainly didn't fail us for the first night. The food in the evening was superb, and service was very good, friendly and professional. The menu is extensive and varied, from pizza to gourmet meals and good choice of alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks. They don't serve breakfast. The setting, on the lake, is picturesque, with good opportunities for eating alfresco, weather-permitting. Staff are friendly, but seemed to be rushed.

The Auberge is essentially a 'restaurant with rooms'. Some of the rooms are pleasant and better than satisfactory, especially 2,3 and 4 which have been modernised and have nice views and ensuites. The first night we stayed, we had room 6 which was fairly unsatisfactory. We weren't told that the bathroom wasn't ensuite and was down the hall. It was adequate but wasn't convenient. There is no elevator/lift so beware if you have heavy luggage to carry upstairs, as there isn't always a staff member to help. Though we had indicated that we were arriving at about 5.30 both evenings (we had 2 different stays, 4 days apart) the staff member was busy with the restaurant on the first night and we had to wait for some time to be checked in. On our second visit, we arrived to find that the restaurant had been taken over for a function (which they knew of 4 days earlier when we were there for the first time, but we hadn't been warned). Again, we waited to be checked in but at least we had a better room. Then we were told that the restaurant was closed to the public (that would be us!) but they were happy to serve us food in our rooms or in a small lounge area; alternatively there are a few restaurants in the town they'd recommend. We hadn't chosen to go there in order to go to a local pizza restaurant, so chose to eat in the lounge. We had to wait a very long time (nearly an hour) to be served, though the food was worth it. The staff were pleasant and apologetic, but we were disappointed not to be able to eat in the lovely restaurant with lovely views of the river and garden. They don't serve breakfast but suggested Pat's Cafe for breakfast which is a short car ride away, but beware, it's very popular and you're well-advised to book it in advance, which we'd have liked to have been told about in advance. Fortunately, we got the last table when we were there.

The lake views were beautiful. Room was very comfortable, we all enjoyed our time there.

Right on the lake…..lots of places indoors and out for guests to enjoy the location

It was the perfect place to view the eclipse.

I wish the restaurant had been open.
