Very nice breakfast, really lovely scenic location

Nice staff, good atmosphere- initially.

The room was cold and damp and needed a major refurb. We couldn’t sleep after 11pm due to noise from the bar, then an almighty fight broke out!! Police and ambulances arrived and we were so shaken that we left in the early hours and drove home 3 hours away.

The breakfast was amazing, bed was super comfy, the room had biscuits and a nice selection of drinks like tea / coffee. Plus, staff were super nice. Loved it all, would definitely stay here again

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Black Buoy Inn in Wivenhoe, Essex, and it was nothing short of a delightful experience. This historical pub exudes old-world charm while offering modern amenities that made our stay truly memorable. The Black Buoy Inn's location is a true gem. Situated close to the train station, it was incredibly convenient for our arrival and departure. Additionally, being nestled by the River Colne provided picturesque views and a tranquil atmosphere. The inn is perfectly positioned for leisurely walks along the riverbanks. Stepping into the Black Buoy Inn felt like entering a time capsule, in the best way possible. The historic architecture and cozy, welcoming interior transported us to a bygone era, offering a unique and authentic experience. The warm, inviting atmosphere made us feel right at home. Our room was comfortable, impeccably clean, and tastefully decorated. The blend of antique furnishings and modern amenities was executed with finesse. The view of the River Colne from our window was a delightful bonus, adding an extra layer of charm to our stay. The staff at the Black Buoy Inn were exceptional. Their attentiveness and friendliness elevated our experience. From check-in to check-out, every encounter was met with a genuine smile and a willingness to assist. It was evident that they took pride in ensuring guests had a seamless and enjoyable stay. The breakfast offered at the Black Buoy Inn was a highlight of our stay. The menu featured a variety of options, catering to different tastes and dietary preferences. The quality of the ingredients was outstanding, and the breakfast was delicious and hearty, setting us up for a day of exploration. Our stay at the Black Buoy Inn was a true pleasure. The combination of its historical charm, excellent service, and superb location made for an unforgettable experience. We would highly recommend.

We can confidently say that there was not a single thing we could fault.

The staff were fabulous. Could not have been more helpful. Breakfast was delicious. The room had a lovely, comfortable bed and was nice and cosy.

No handle on bathroom door was a little strange, nowhere to secure bicycles, there was a bike post but there was a lot of rubbish piled around. Food menu is limited for evening meals but the breakfast made up for it and there are other restaurants near by.
